My take - not an original one but I'll give it anyway - is that Castillo is, sadly, a cheat.
He knows he struggles to make the weight, but he takes the fight and DELIBERATELY weighs in too heavy. He did the same first fight, he was given time to lose some weight and scaled back HEAVIER.
He simply thought Arum and Diego would have no option but to let him fight with a huge weight advantage again. He knew at least a week, probably two weeks, before that the weight would never be made. But left it until the weigh in to reveal this.
The man needs to lose. I will support anybody who takes him on now. Allied to the foot under the scales fiasco, his team can not be described as anything but cheats.
See the look of total shock on Castillo's face when he was weighed. Who is he trying to kid? I got a scale in my friggin bathroom he can borrow. he probably weighed himself ten times that day before stepping on the scale. Utter BS- He thought he could take the fine and go in with 5lbs of muscle and hit Corrales with it 45 times a round and get a fast knock out and bank. Good for Corrales for cancelling the fight on the little f****er.
I'm going to use this thread to cover the entire issue.
1) I don't think Castillo cheated. I think he just lied. He can't get down to 135 anymore. Either that or he didn't put the effort in to get down to where 135 was managable. He should have taken precautions, like maybe start cutting weight earlier (instead of wanting to fight a taxi driver ::** )
2) Castillo's camp made this a problem. THEY LIED. Anyone who is defending Castillo for this is just an idiot imo. He LIED. He could have been a forthright about the issue and told his problems to Corrales to try to get a catchweight fight done or for the fight to have been called off earlier but NO. He waited until Corrales tried to cut the weight, drained himself completely in order to make 135 THEN he weighs 140. The guy is an immoral unprofessional scumbag imo. You don't do that. You just don't. Corrales did everything in his power to make 135, but Castillo waited until that was done to reveal his 5 lb problem to the world. That's a joke. And to anyone who says "You can't expect him to make that weight anymore", then he shouldn't have expected it of himself when he signed the damn contract. Anyone who gives sympathy to this guy is crazy. He doesn't deserve it....AND THIS IS FROM A GUY WHO USED TO BE A BIG CASTILLO FAN. It used to be Castillo featured in my signature.
3) I don't think Castillo was ducking anybody...but to those who use the argument that Castillo already knocked him out. Castillo landed the same punches in the first fight and they didn't KO Corrales. Obviously he doesn't have the same power at 135. He's a different fighter, and that's where this fight was supposed to take place. That figh doesn't hold much weight to me. It was a different Castillo fighting hat night, it's fairly obvious to me. The same punches in the first fight didn't do nearly the damage in the first fight. What if Corrales was allowed to relax and fight at 138? The fight would have been much different imo. The one time they fought a legitimate contest....Corrales one. So anyone who says the first fight slowed Corrales down...it did but I think it did Castillo aswell. That's a big reason he can't make weight imo and he took a shortcut in the second fight. 3.5 lbs...that's almost a division's worth of weight more then Corrales was in the 2nd fight but some of you act like that was the most signifigant fight of the two. I don't get it.
haven't read all the thread but I think Corrales went up in my book, it would have been very easy to bow to the money to bow to the all the pressures for the fight to go ahead.
Castillo, hmm to come in over the limit once could be down to badly calibrated scales or something.....but twice? Nah. My take is this he/his camp new he was not going to make the weight like last time out. BUT that fight went ahead, by Castillo shooting his mouth off before the fight and the fact that Corrales would be looking for revenge I reckon they took the chance with baiting him and ignored the weight hoping Corrales would be too macho to see sense.
