If he didn't get so friggin nervous he would have done a lot better but then again Wlad makes a lot of fighters nervous....much less fighting in front of ALI AT MADISON SQUARE GARDEN LIVE ON HBO!!!!

Calvin Brock is an awkward Fighter to say the least I can't see him being a champion...Who's he going to beat...he can't get pass non-title holder Peters,James Toney or a couple other top names. This is my opinion though.

I agree.. Brock would beat Briggs and might out work Oleg Maskiaev .however I would still favor Maskieav knocking Brock out late ... Toney wins easy . as do Peter.. who would clobber him inside 6. in my opinion , but the truth is the division is sloppy as a whole with the stand outs being.

I don't know about Peter, he doesn't throw as straight as Wlad.  Brocks defense may be a reason to say Brock could outbox him. I also liked Brock's counter jab. He used it about 3 times in the fight but it looked good.

This fight was a showcase of how good Calvin Brock may be and how good Wladimer is.
I don't think Evander would beat him. He wouldn't run the entire fight letting Evander set the tone on him.

Agreed. Wlad has grown on me...very nice...good feel out...I love to watch a fighter map his way to a win.

Here's how I look at Brock...when pressed he reacts...but not dominately.
He can retaliate...but he's just not effective enough. He's not faced anyone of a high caliber...so he's shown out when he get's his stoppages.
Even tonight...even against a weaker performance he wasn' tthat effective. He did good body work...but that was it.
He did better than I expected...but it wasnt on account of his performance...but the lack of Wlad's.

Surely.
Put Brock in with Holy, Valuev, or even Maskaev.
Any vets would dismantle him...especially now that he's suffered that kind of defeat.
I don't rate any of the above names...but I think that they would all handle Brock...& I like Brock...I really do...but he doesn't have the goods.
I really thought that he did...& I try to be optimisitic...but come on ya'll...let's be real...the guy's a gotdam tap dancer. ;D

Brock would WHUP Holyfield...Peter may give him a tough fight but get this if Brock only reacts to peopl,e pressing him who is better to fight than Sam Peter???? Sam comes in, throws WILD wide punches giving Calvin the perfect oppertunity to counter effectively.
Brock does need to shorten up on his hook and perhaps throw more quick straight punches a la Chris Byrd and wait to counter with hooks when he has a fighter confused....if he hooked Wlad to the body A) he would have been in close and been able to finish with a clinch and B) the hook would put more on the body attack everyone knows a hook is better than a cross to the body

Wladimir is a god of fighting.
He waited enough to get a feel for his oponent. Then I had it he went for it and knocked him out.
Wladimir is one of the greatest ever.
Dont come and give me your old time fighters Ive had enough!!!! They weighed 50 opounds less than Wlad, and he would have literally killed them. Henry Copper e.g. at 183. Ali at 220. Give me a break.
Any way please dont write about ol times. Wlad is classy and cool and not mobbed up or stupid.
Brock is one of the best in the world and he was doing his best and deserves alot of respect but he didnt for ONE Minute take control of the fight. In the first round I know what happened. I have fought on a national scale in Judo, and what happened was that he got so scared and nervous that he lost control of his legs.
By the way; I think a less cautious fighter like Briggs for all is faults would have been perhaps quicker to beat but also more dangerous.

I actually think that'd be an interesting fight...but with an outcome that would not favor Brock. If Sam could drop Wlad...& he did...he could drop Brock...& don't throw up that behind the head shit Lyle...some of those shots were legit...well...maybe two of them. ;D
