Hatton's never done it before though, he been cut up like a susage and never tried to clinch. The other night he was bobbing and weaving to get into a clinch with Urango. That is what is strange

Urango turned out to be more than he first appeared & Hatton gutted out a win.
All in all a great fight.

If something went wrong then OK, but if he plain ran out of gas then thats a concern.
My dear Memph.
Here's the thing. I have ripped Urango upside & down & everyone here continues to also...but if you watch this fight again...& I have THRICE you will see that the kid came in it to keep his title & very well could have. Hatton started running out of gas at about the 6th maybe 7th it became obvious.
Urango was tearing his ribs to pieces & ripping him with uppers also.
Sure Hatton was looking b-e-a-utiful for the first part of the fight...but Urango was shelling up pretty well too. The kid had a strategy & it was going well...even though most thought he was getting dominated...he was holding up well...Hatton got cracked on two shots that I thought woulda killed him.
Personally...I think that it was the opponent. Urango very well (from that showing) could have been Hatton's tuffest opponent even over Kostya. Yeah. Laugh all you want...but put it into perspective...the kid had one hell of a chin, he could kick harder than a gotdam mule, & he was young & ready to go.
Sorry folksies...but this YANK thinks that the critique is unfounded & again...I aint a Hatton fan.
They both done good. ;D
Christ almighty I just took up for Hatton...the world will end on Friday. ;D

Which is where I stand with it.
If a man get's hurt...he holds on. Urango hurt Hatton...that is what shocked the fwock outta me.

Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds Hatton vs Urango
I just got a penny for my thoughts so here they go.....
Really dissapointed in Hattons performance, I didn't see that explosive Hatton that we've seen before and when hes in front of the cameras training..... Urango was slow, his punches were wide as fuck he was practically telling Hatton: Ok heres comes my right hook now. I mean Hatton should have put on some combos on Urango and I saw none of that.... Urango just practically stood flat footed throughout the WHOLE fight and chased Hatton....
Hatton also looked a bit winded at some points in the fight.....
In the end he won the fight one sided, BUT I think he could have & should have stopped Urango.
----------------------------
JLC another guy started well in the 1st rd. and then IMO he got winded also it's like they put weights in his hands and he stopped throwing punches. Ndougjo was getting the better of the 2 and won those middle rounds.... Towards the end JLC began to throw more and he pressed forward looking to make the fight while out landing Ndougjo.
Same thing in the end he won the fight, But JLC looks to be winding down his career.
Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds Hatton vs Urango
I guess I'm in the minority here. I got a lot more out of Hatton then I expected. I was blown away the first part of the fight. Never before has Hatton been in and out like he was in this fight. Typically the battle is just getting inside and maintaining control on the inside as was the case with Collazo. But he showed a whole nother dimension in the first 4 rounds. He was getting in and out landing combinations without being touched.
Then he got rocked. And then Urango started coming forward a little bit more and Hatton slowed down a bit, got hurt to the body. So he changed his attack and got him coming in. Urango was coming in and not doing anything. Hatton was initiating the tie ups but Urango wasn't doing to much to stop it. It was an ugly fight towards the end but just because it wasn't as watchable as Hatton used to be goes nowhere to say he is on the downside or a shot fighter as I've seen a couple people say. Anyone who was expecting a spectacular performance was expecting a little to much imo. It's fair to expect more then what we got but still, he still did what he had to do to win the fight. I think people are being a little to hard here.
The fact that he had a diversified attack, and adjusted on the fly should speak to something. Wasn't FOTY by any means but it was still a solid performance. To be honest, the Hatton backlash is surprising to me. He looked better then I expected him to even though the fight wasn't quite as good for quite as long as I thought it would be.
I think that he could have gotten Urango out of there, but he would have been putting his ass on the line so he opted not to. I think he pressed a bit in the 10th, but I think Hatton was more then content with a lopsided UD at that point.

:coolclick: My sentiments exactly. Hatton did what he has never done in my opinion...he boxed & didn't brawl the entire fight.
Hatton fought smart. I like my boxers to fight smart...not dumb themselves down to just brawling & going for the knockout.
That being said...the next weekend fight is on the rise so this one just go washed clean of the stickiness. ;D
Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds Hatton vs Urango
Hatton won that fight with relative ease. It was a clear UD and the result was seldom in question. Urango had a very good 5th round but that is the only round you could say that he clearly won.
Hatton looked great for the first 4 rounds and though the 5th was impressive for Urango, he couldnt follow it up.
Hatton definately changed his approach thereafter. Billy Graham was way too cautious in that corner for my likeing. Hatton came back in the 6th very well. Outlanding Urango in power shots almost 3-1. Im not so decided on Hattons stamina now. He upped the output compared to the Collazo outing. It just seems that caution was the order of the day.
Graham sounded dramatic and over cautious and Hatton did indeed follow his advice. Throw, stay close and then grab. Im not so sure about this kind of advice and really I didnt see the need to be so cautious.
The hyper negative anti Hatton reaction is entirely unjustified on the whole. He beat his opponent and with relative. The same cannot be said of Castillo.
