Re: The Official World Cup 2010 Thread
I thought it was a good performance by england yesterday. Slovenia are a very organised very defensive side. The German game will be more open...be some goals in that game for sure. Rooney needs a goal...once he gets that goal then i think other teams can fucking standby!!!

Re: The Official World Cup 2010 Thread
Haha that was great, absolutely bent over by the refs so far and we still won the group. What a frustrating game though.
Germany looked shit yesterday, if Ghana could somehow actually finish once in a while they would have hung at least two on them. Winnable game for England. Germany's so attack minded, when Khedira and Lahm go forward along with the front four they just leave huge spaces. England should keep Rooney and Defoe and hit them on the break.
And by far the greatest moment so far was watching Italian tears. ahahaha cry you diving whining cheating injury feigning fucks.

Re: The Official World Cup 2010 Thread
Tip for Cameroon. Don't try and beat Holland down the middle. Pass the Dutch on the left hand side.

I'm sorry but Altidore and Findley seem like shit to me compared to Gomez and Buddle.

Altidore is playing like he just smoked a blunt.
-
Re: The Official World Cup 2010 Thread
Altidore was pretty good against Algeria but even when he plays well and sets other people up he doesn't look like he's gonna score.
That first half was Clint Dempsey and 10 scared morons. Just awful.

Re: The Official World Cup 2010 Thread
Too many guys walking around, need some more hustle.

Agreed USA are best pressuring players and high tempo, they are just letting Ghana play. Hope they play better second half.

Re: The Official World Cup 2010 Thread
Good move needed more ball movers, and swing Dempsey and Donovan on the wings.

ghana are pony defensively just like all african sides are
team US still well in this

Re: The Official World Cup 2010 Thread
Whole team looked flat. We couldnt keep up with them on breakaways.

Re: The Official World Cup 2010 Thread
What annoys me so much about that is Ghana were shit. Absolute shit. They had one good moment. The first goal was totally gifted by Clark and Howard. The second was horrible defending but fair enough it was a nice goal. We have no one up top that can do what that guy did.
Why Bob Bradley insists on starting a terrible lineup is beyond me. I cannot for one second understand the reasoning behind starting Clark again (after he hadn't played since England) and Findley is just a waste of space. Its clear what our best line up is, its Feilhaber instead of Findley and Edu over Clark. Why is it some mystery why we always start poorly and come on in the second half? Its not a mystery at all, Bradley waits till the second half to put in our best lineup. Not rocket science.
The fact is were never really going to get anywhere until we develop some strikers that can score goals. Simple as that. Jozy played like he had the swine flu. Findley is always awful. Buddle and Gomez are just mediocre.
Too many no shows. Donovan was mediocre at best. Howard was bad. Clint Dempsey was BY FAR the man of the match. Feilhaber was good. Strangely enough Bornstein was good. Cherundolo was awful.
I'm happy with the way they played for the most part but the starting lineup was just baffling. The team overall was exciting and didn't flake out like in 2006.

Re: The Official World Cup 2010 Thread
I almost wish they'd won 2-0. Now all I'm going to hear about for the next few days is what a pussy sport soccer is because of all the fake injuries at the end.

Re: The Official World Cup 2010 Thread
Defense is our main problem. Uruguay should beat Ghana they can actually defend.
-
Re: The Official World Cup 2010 Thread
Disappointed to see the US go out, especially as it was mainly self-inflicted, but you've got to be glad for all of Africa to have at least one team going through to the quarter finals. And Uruguay is just about as nice a draw as you are ever likely to get in a quarter final. So many young players in the Ghana team too.
Not wanting to be negative about England's chances tomorrow, but I wonder who Germany'll be playing in the quarters.
-
Re: The Official World Cup 2010 Thread
Hard luck Americans, gutsy performance as always. Just need some real firepower up front and you would be a hell of a lot more dangerous!
-
Re: The Official World Cup 2010 Thread
Good luck England. I am now officially jumping ship to support Netherlands. ;D

Re: The Official World Cup 2010 Thread
Its alot easier to watch when your team isnt playing.

Re: The Official World Cup 2010 Thread
Man, the English defence is absolute rubbish. German kick-out, bounce, goal.
Matthew Upson is one of the worst defenders at the World Cup, he is constantly getting owned.

I agree except one thing, we hardly ever saw Gomez and Buddle. Lets be honest as a goal scorer Altidore had a bad Cup, missing a couple gimmie shots. How can you say Buddle was mediocre, he played like 10 minutes total. Leading goal scorer in MLS hardly played.

Good header he scored, but still an absolute cack defender though. ;D
If this match ends 2-1 to Germany, we will never hear the end of it. Brace yourself man, it will be even worse than the drama in Ireland after Henry's 'hand of God' incident. Please God, let Germany win by 2 or England win by anything, for all of our sakes. ;D

Re: The Official World Cup 2010 Thread
I've slightly been rooting for England and I know it sucks to get knocked out of the World Cup so I have no interest in piling on but am I the only one who laughed when after going down 4-1 they brought in Heskey? :p
Why the fuck did Rafa Benitez want to replace Xabi Alonso with Gareth Barry? Baffling.
Bad luck for England though. Germany's better but going 2-2 definitely could have changed things.

Germany vs Argentina is gonna be a good one.
