Collazo wants immediate rematch

Luis Collazo, who lost his WBA welterweight title by a razor-thin decision against England's Ricky "The Hitman" Hatton on Saturday in Boston, has asked Hatton to make good on his post-fight promise to grant him a rematch. "Ricky and Team Hatton were great sportsmen before and after our fight on Saturday," Collazo said from his home in Brooklyn, N.Y. today. "I take Ricky as man of his word. He said I gave him his toughest fight ever. He admitted that I hurt him on several occasions. He said he knew the fight was close. He also said he would give me a re-match. Now he needs to make good on that promise. In the spirit of good sportsmanship, I think it would be only right for our second fight to take place on his home turf in Manchester. I would be honored to accept his invitation for an immediate rematch in England." (Photo: David Martin Warr/DKP
Re: Collazo wants immediate rematch
To be, or not to be, that is the question :-\
Re: Collazo wants immediate rematch
If they fight in Manchester, then Collazo will get knocked out so bad he'd think he's in Puerto Rico.....
No way he wants to fight in manchester. Refs over there let boxers bang it out like men, and Collazo will NOT be able to handle that since collazo needs a ref to step in and break them apart every 2 seconds....

By bang it out like men do you mean fight illegally?
Re: Collazo wants immediate rematch
I took this from Dan Rafael's weekend round up on espn.com
"As for Collazo, the loss did more for him than any of his previous wins. He is now on the boxing map and would be welcomed back by HBO for the right fight. Although he and his team complained bitterly about being robbed and demanded a rematch, they should take a deep breath and relax. Collazo wasn't robbed. He lost a close fight. Period. He should look no further than his bout last year against Jose Antonio Rivera, in which Collazo won the belt in the first place. How did he do it? On a split decision in an even closer fight than Saturday's in Rivera's hometown, and he never gave Rivera a rematch."

I don't know what else he could possibly have meant. You have to admit, Hatton is a VERY impressive grappler/below-the-belt-slugger/hold-and-hitter. Probably top 3 p4p!

Hatton is a dirty little troll. The man knows he lost to Collazo. But I doubt he'll give him a rematch. And if Collazo values his nuts at all he will not fight the Troll in Manchester.

There is something majorly wrong with this whole statement. CLINCHING IS ILLEGAL AND UK LETS THEM DO IT! They should be broken up every 2 seconds if they clinch. And this part i bolded... :bananasex: :bananastyle:
Re: Collazo wants immediate rematch
aHAHAHAHA,Collazo is stupid to come to Manchester and fight,it will be a whole new ball game and he will get knocked out! The ref's are SLIGHTLY more leniant.

I doubt he will be knocked out but hatton will be more of a favourite, maybe Collazo thinks he will get more of the pie in Manchester, who knows?
Re: Collazo wants immediate rematch
Hatton has done him fair and square and has bigger fish to fry now.
Would be a step backwards as Collazo is now officially beneath him 8)
2 weight champ ;D

HAHAHA, i like it.... But still, Ricky won, fair n square.
A rematch would be pointless, no one was cheated and Rickys gota move onwards and upwards.... Not back to the MEN arena.
Ricky will answer any questions in his next fight!
Re: Collazo wants immediate rematch
collazo deserves a rematch cos it was so close. but hopefully ricky will be more on his game next time and do it properly. it would be a big mistake for the fight to be in manchester. firstly for collazo cos he would get battered. and also for hatton cos it won't do his status in america any good if his 'invasion' goes straight back to england.

I believe he will win by KO because the ref's are far more leniant in Manchester so Hatton would be allowed to rough Collazo up more than stateside, this would have an obvious effect on Collazo a la Tszyu and I don't think Collazo would be able to take it. I mean he was complaining about what Hatton was doing in that fight, imagine what he would be like in Manchester! I feel for Tszyu a bit!
Hatton SHOULD give Collazo a rematch otherwise firstly, boxing fans who don't like him will like him even less, secondly, it's the right thing to do if a match is that close(it could have gone either way and I had it Collazo by 1) and thirdly everyone disses Lil Floyd about his fight with Castillo which even I think he lost BUT he beat him with ease second time around, answering ALLLL the questions,Ricky needs to do the same.
Re: Collazo wants immediate rematch
If you were Hatton would you give the rematch?
He admitted himself it was a tough fight and I think his trainer wasn't keen on him taking it in the first place. As they say styles make fights and I think regardless of where they fight it would be difficult for Hatton.
I'd put it down as not one of the best performances but just did enough, and go in search of the big paydays. Leave Collazo to talk it up a while before he disappears again to relative obscurity.
