Best Flyweight in the world
For my money the flyweight division is one of the best in boxing right now.
Competitive as hell. You've got three marvellous world champions - Darchinian, Parra and Wongjongkam.
Then you've got Jorge Arce, maybe even the best of the bunch, as interim WBC champion. You've got Hussein Hussein, Rosendo Alvarez (admitedly a bit past-it), Omar Narvaez (WBO king), Irene Pacheco, Jose Burgos, Maldonado, Damean Kelly.
The main four, Vic, Pong, Lorenzo and Jorge have got to have some kind of tournament. There's no clarity in the division right now.
I for one to love to see an undisputed champ by next year. Personally I think Arce might be the best of the bunch.

It me be talented but it's simply not appealing. It's like watching to 6th graders fight after school, there just to small, but I am glad you brought it up because it let's me know you are a die hard boxing fan, only they talk about flyweights.

I think it would make you re-think your stance.

I think it would make you re-think your stance.
I am sure it was action packed and exciting but sadly I did not see it. You will never see big money fights in this division. If you were a bouncer at a club you probably would not let them in thinking that they were underage. But to be honest they are solid technical boxers, but I only follow 122 and up

That's a shame. I've boxed myself, so I gotta appreciate every boxer. I think its unfortunate that these little guys train their asses off and slug it out the same as everyone else, but get overlooked.
But hey, you dont enjoy it, you dont enjoy it.

michael carbajal was damn exciting to watch
i saw him in person here when i was younger against........i think his name was like kwang sun kim
it looked like kim was winning the fight (just boxing but never hurting him) till carbajal leveled him with a perfect shot

Yessss,another person that likes the smaller guys!! They have the best fights and they all fight each other.I love Arce and think he could beat them all and I also like Calderon,Viloria etc etc. If there was a tournament,I'd put money on Arce but as he is moving up now,I'd think Vic would win but Pongsaklek is a bit of an unknown quantity.He has set a few records but he has to fight outside of his home!!
Mac_10,could you fill me in on Narvaez,I don't know much about him at all but have heard he is very good!!

Good to hear the flyweights are getting some love from at least some of us.
Calderon is slick as hell, he can cause anyone problems. Of course he's even LIGHTER than flyweight, so overlooked even more so. If he was a featherweight he'd be in that elite mix, and probably gracing most peoples p4p lists, I reckon.
Vic Darchinian is explosive. I spoke to one of his team a while back (just before the Nedal Hussein-Harrison match) and he said Vic went to Thailand and was sparring thai-boxing champions, in what were absolute tear-ups. Roughest gym-wars he'd ever seen, he told me. Vic fears no one. And he's the hardest hitter at Fly, I'd say. Love to see him in with Pong, be a good clash of styles.
To be honest I don't know much about Omar either - he's one I've missed. But you can't argue with an unbeaten record, and he's in that mix. Plus he's been fighting outta Argentina, so he's bound to come up against some tough S.O.B's there, ha!

Darchinyan has absolute banging power but I think he leaves his chin out to dry and has very poor defence.I he fights someone like a Pongsaklek,he will have to cover up better,I like him but find him too sloppy at times.

Just kidding of course but I've been watching some flyweight fights recently. I saw Arce-Hussein and that was a thrillfest. The second one was a letdown and I lost touch with he division completely. Then I just saw Darchynian and the guy is fun to watch. I still don't know much but I would LOVE to see those two guys get it on. That could attract a lot of people to the division, including me.

I'm a big fan of Montiel, but was sorely disappointed with his last performance. Not sure if it was the weight, but he just wasn't effective.

Darchinian-Arce-Parra-Wongjongkam. You're going to get competitive action.
I like how Leon over at B-Talk gives these guys no credit, and yet rates people like Tarver,Glen Johnson etc. on his list.

I remember him from Oscar's world cup thing. Very skillful fighter. What happened in his last outing?
