weirdest pain when throwing right hooks
Ok i've been getting the strangest pain in my upper right arm the past couple of days while im on the bag or sparring, i mean i can lift weights and its fine, throw straights n crosses n im fine, but as soon as i throw a right hook, on the moment of impact i feel that really nasty pain in my upper arm.
I've tried resting it and putting ice packs on it to no avail, just to mention it starts as a tingle to start then give it about 15 minutes and its a full blown pain right up the arse.
Anyone got an solutions?
Re: weirdest pain when throwing right hooks
man walks into a doctors iffice and goes, doc, it hurts when I do this.
The doc goes, then don't do that. ;D
you might want to just experiment with the way you're hitting the bag, try wrapping your wraps another way, looser, etc. I was also getting a pain in my left arm from the hook, then simply adjusted the way I made contact and it seems to have helped.
Also, my glove/pain question a while back was because I was tying my wraps too tight. I loosened them and INSTANTLY the pain went away...and I was getting that pain for days before trying, literally to the point of being debilitated with my right arm.
are you thoroghly stretching? what about trying a tensor bandage? are you aggravating an old injury? maybe you pulled somethnig that you never gave a chance to heal...
Re: weirdest pain when throwing right hooks
Your probably doing something wrong in the weight room.
Re: weirdest pain when throwing right hooks
maybe you're having a heart attack?
;D

that's your left arm. ::** ;)
Re: weirdest pain when throwing right hooks
Sheps it sounds like you could have inflamed the adductor muscle by the side of u4 or 5 vertibrae trapping the nerves to the arm. That I find is useualy the problem, go see a good Osteopath He,ll do it in one hit.
Re: weirdest pain when throwing right hooks
Scraps,
I was getting a slight pain in my left arm upon throwing my left hook. The pain was on the outside of my arm, right below the elbow... ie, my high forearm. it was only on the bag though, not the mits.
any ideas? thanks.
Re: weirdest pain when throwing right hooks
If it'd been a pain in the underside of your forearm I would have been able to help... :P
Are you sure its not that... so I can show off and be a smart arse? :P

Have you knocked your thumb up recently von
Re: weirdest pain when throwing right hooks
haha... its nothing special... just a stretch for that area... ;) if I've been throwing stupid shots on the bag I'd get it.
Think I developed it from over use at work... had to lift all of these slate flag stones out of the floor (will 'lever... I'm not heman ;)) some of them were like 5 foot by 5 foot... only way to do it was to get your pick axe under them... prize it up... get your boot under and then squat it uprtight taking the weight on your forearms.
Re: weirdest pain when throwing right hooks
Sheps. If the pain is down the outside of the arm down the brachialis (between the bicep and tricep) you've manage to impinge your brachial nerve. The most common way of doing that is by injuring your rotator cuff - the muscle which moves your shoulder blade round and stabilises the arm in the shoulder. Ice the area where the arm joins on to the back, rest it for a while then get yourself a dynoband and do the tubing exercises in this link.

As Scrap says you may have have to see someone to check your spine and neck alignment aswell.

Everyone knows that Sheps is a Vulcan and therefore his heart is on the other side of his body than a human. ;)
