In the most emotional episode of the second season of "The Contender" Michael "No Joke" Stewart overcame a point deficit on the scorecards to knock out former contender Ebo Elder in the fourth round of a scheduled five. Stewart was the one who chose to fight Elder, but it was the smaller Ebo who seemed to dictate the pace of the bout for the early rounds. He was caught with a good shot in the fourth however and was badly hurt. A left hook dropped him forward to the canvas and he barely rose at the count of nine. When the referee asked him to walk forward and he did so wobbly the fight was called off. The fight had taken an emotional aspect unseen so far this season due to a close relationship that had developed between both boxers wives. Stewart chose to fight Elder and could have fought a different opponent, and was contemplating his decision at the end of the episode when he was informed that Elder's little daughter was crying when her father was knocked out. Regardless, the Blue team now improves to 4-2 with 1 KO while the Gold team drops to 2-4, losing the last two fights of the tournament.

RATINGS WATCH: According to Larry Stewart of All-Sports Service, through the first four weeks of "The Contender" the show is averaging a 1.2 rating and each show is reaching an average of just over a million homes - a 33 percent increase for the same time slot the previous year.

Ahmed Kadur (SP?) had a right tasty bird last year if I remember rightly. I bet he held on to her for as long as it took to reach the exit door ;D

As for Ill Mitch I've not really seen him round here for a few months... maybe he is actually dead.

I thought Torres should have got the decsision over Balleto. He had that big Ivan Drago looking motha fu**a all banged up and bleeding while he was barley even scrached. I could kind of see how they gave him the decsision ,he did out point Torres in three of the five rounds, but the rounds that Torres won he dominated, the rounds that Balleto won were very close. I think if youre a judge in that fight you take the fact that Torres deserves to win so much more than Balleto and you give him the last round even though Balleto kind of got the better of him.

Balletto (yourself said) he won 3 round to 2....
But torres deserved to win? why? because he was blocking punches with his face? :lickish:

I don't think any one can judge a contender match based off the footage we say, certaintly not enough to disagree with a desicion.

It's so cut it's horrible... I watched the last round of episode 3 or 4... where the little guy fought the tall guy who looks like he;s going to be the Ishe smith of this season and the last round was so baddly cut... it was laughable... every time the camera cut they where in a different place than before.

I was gutted little Ebo lost. I guess it's pretty much career over for him.

Still he's come a long way. Who would have thought that weird little banjo playing kid in Deliverence would grow up to challenge for a world title.

Still hopefully he can cash in on his fame and maybe get a bit part in the next season of Carnivale, perhaps even a speaking role in Wrong Turn 2.
