***Glen Johnson camp cries foul!***
Seminole Warriors Boxing intends on filing a protest of Johnson-Woods decision
During the 11th round of the IBF Light Heavyweight World Title fight between Glen Johnson and Clinton Woods at the Bolton Arena in Bolton England earlier this evening, a member from Woods' camp jumped up on the apron amidst the action and was asked to get down by referee Howard Foster from Yorkshire, England, instead of disqualifying Woods. Hence the controversial majority decision victory for the hometown boy, Clinton Woods. "This is a direct violation of the IBF rules and regulations as it relates to members of any fighters corner stepping foot on the ring apron during the action. The fighter should have been immediately disqualified," said Leon Margules, Executive Director of Seminole Warriors Boxing, "We intend on filing a protest regarding the outcome and demand Glen Johnson crowned the victor in this contest or they should order an immediate rematch."
Judge Mickey Vann (England) 114-112 Johnson
Judge Roberto Ramirez (Puerto Rico) 116-112 Woods
Judge Ric Bays (Florida) 115-112 Woods

Wonder why Saddo didn't mention this in his mini rd. by rd. of the fight. :(
Re: ***Glen Johnson camp cries foul!***
I watched the fight last night and I did not notice anything,I would be very surprised if they changed the desicion...
Re: ***Glen Johnson camp cries foul!***
All you saw was the referee pointing off camera and saying "get down" quietly , they didnt really show it on tv
Re: ***Glen Johnson camp cries foul!***
It was a very good bout, I had it 114/114, and I suppose there could be an argument for a 10/8 ninth round for Johnson...
Neither deserves a technical decision after the fight to mar either performance.
I think the IBF should mandate Woods/JohnsonIV, that would seem fair, and I would be up for it!

Another bout between the 2 would be a fair decision....would mean Calzaghe continues to wait for a big fight though..
I would be more than happy for Calzaghe to fight the winner of Kessler: Beyer though...

Calzaghe would be mad to fight Woods.
A) It would be a potentially tricky fight
B) No one outside of the UK would care about it, it wouldonly be a biggish fight in the UK.
Kessler and Beyer would be even worse! Who but hardcore fans,Danes and Germans has heard of these fighters?
A big fight for Calzaghe now is Jones or Hopkins...
Maybe Wright or Taylor could be considered big, butJones or Hopkins would probably a lot easier and bigger fights than either Winky or Jermain.

I had Woods sweeping 10, 11 and 12 after the dodgy 9th.
Re: ***Glen Johnson camp cries foul!***

Yes, his intensity and rough tactics would cause Calzaghe problems, and he is the bigger fighter. Joe has nothing to win and everything to lose fighting Woods. If I was Joe I would look for the more lucrative and possibly easier bouts against Jones or Hopkins.
After all Calzaghe is getting no younger and IMO only has one or two excellent fights in him...
Re: ***Glen Johnson camp cries foul!***
i think woods is little similar to woodhall and we know woodhall gave calzaghe problems and woods is better than him

After last night Calzaghe Woods would be a big fight. They were already hyping it as the best lightheavy vs best Supermiddle
BUT, I'd bet Woods is going to fight Roy Jones, which is part of the reason the Calzaghe team so desperately wanted Johnson to win.

Jones wont fight Calzaghe and Hopkins is retired (I hope!!!)....
A Woods fight would be tricky for Calzaghe, but I see Calzaghe being too much for Woods. Nothing wrong with a fight being tricky if you are confident you can do a job. It would only be a big fight in the UK though as you point out. If Joe really wants to market himself in front of a world audience then why not get over to the states for a few big fights? Jones Jr isnt a traveller and I can't imagine Jones ever stepping foot in Wales!
The fight against Beyer: Kessler, therefore Calzaghe: Kessler is really just my own personal preference as to who I would like to see Calzaghe fight next...
Taylor is probably going to stay at middleweight for the time being. He has no difficulty making that weight at the moment. Wright could be an option, but Winky isnt even a natural middleweight, let alone moving up to super middleweight....Calzaghe would be too much for Winky IMO...
Re: ***Glen Johnson camp cries foul!***
I remember that i thought the ref was telling somone in Glens corner to SHUT UP ;D
Re: ***Glen Johnson camp cries foul!***
I saw it too
it was after Woods reacted to a Johnson head butt
It could of been Hatton ;D
