one day whan i wasnt all that right in the head, i was going through withdrawl or something, i had to just lay down and watch TV to keep from going insane, so i put on TV, the room i was in had no cable, and a crocidile hunter movie came oin eventually, i never even knew that the guy made movies...


anyway, there is a scene where he is standing on a boat (and i think this was for real) he sees some al;igator or corcidile in the water and he says some shit like 'in the water is where they have the advantage' then the motherfucker jumps off the boat and grabs the fucking thing, and somehow managed to get it on his boat and tie it up

i can see how he wouldnt fear a stingray, i almost copped one for 60$ a few years back

I agree TOne.

I really liked him.
I think we all knew it was a matter of time before this happened though.
It just wouldn't be right for him to die in a "slipping & falling in the shower" mishhap.
He pushed the envelope without a hint of fear, while knowing & respecting the characteristics of the creatures.
As the article said, it is highly unlikely to be stung by a stingray, let alone fatal.
The poisonous barb hit him under the rib cage & directly into his heart.

I hope it was intant & didn't hurt.

The man was a legend... so passionate about what he did and I guess in small a way, he would have been happy he died doing what he loved... even if it was painful. :-\

I am sorry that the guy died, and he opened up the world of naturalism to many people - especially with his exuberance and sense of excitement.

That said, I always thought he was a bit if an 'animal botherer' and got to close, interfering with them and stuff. As a scuba diver, you should always know not to get too close to a stingray, and maybe he pushed that envelope too far?
