Harrison left in limbo by Marquez
Scott Harrison is seeking a new opponent for the next defence of his WBO featherweight title after the withdrawal of Juan Manuel Marquez.
Harrison had been ordered by the WBO to face interim champion Marquez by 9 November or be stripped of his title.
But the Mexican has opted to take another fight on 21 October instead.
It is another blow to Harrison, who pulled out of his last scheduled contest in May at short notice because of depression and alcohol problems.
He should have fought Dominican Joan Guzman earlier this year, too, but his opponent also withdrew.
Harrison, 29, has not fought since November last year.
He was also charged with six criminal offences earlier this month, including three assaults and one fraud.
However, Marquez's withdrawal could be a blessing in disguise for the Cambuslang fighter.
The Mexican, a former WBA and IBF title-holder, has mixed in more exalted company and would have been a tough proposition.
In light of Marquez's decision, it is unclear whether Harrison must still meet the WBO's 9 November deadline.

Let's hope the new year brings these fights off and we will see. :)

You guys dont really know what ur talkin about,I come from Scotland and know all about Scott Harrison,he is one of the,if not the, toughest guy in the featherweight division plus he's a hard puncher.I'l admit he is'nt the most refined of boxers but he aint that bad of a fighter either.
Plus the guy JJM is away to fight is a nobody,it's only for the interm WBO featherweight title but Harrison has the WBO belt proper.....why is JJM choosing not to fight Scott Harrison....could it be he's scared??

I'll answer that one. NO. I bet you're going to say Guzman was scared off of by the terrifying Scot? These guys aren't going to sit round waiting for him to clean himself up. Not denying he's tough but it takes more than that to be a world beater.
Re: Harrison left in limbo by Marquez
Listen,Harrison was ready for Guzman,it was Guzman that pulled out of that fight and incredibly at the time Guzman and his team were saying Harrison would have trouble making the weight but then guess what happened....Guzman pulled out to fight at super featherweight...who's the one with the weight problem!
All I'm saying get your facts straight, dont underestimate Harrison,it annoys me when people say stuff like Harrison would get ko'd just out of ignorance.
Re: Harrison left in limbo by Marquez
no we say that because he finds it almost impossible to not get hit. If Medina could slap him round what you think a strong fighter like Guzman would do or a slick boxer like Marquez. I'm not telling anyone who to support but I do question it when it's based on patriotism rather than some sense of objectivism. Unless it's based on something else? ???
Re: Harrison left in limbo by Marquez
Harrison should get his act together and fight Jorge Solis, that would be a great match, a featherweight slugfest..........

I think your'e missing the point here.
Harrison is like a loaded pistol...what with his addictive personality & all...you never know when he's going to go off, whether he can show up ship shape, or what might put a potential fight in jeopardy.
It's common knowledge that the kid has loads of legal problems to go along with his talent.
That being said...I don't think Marquez KO's him...but I do believe he outboxes him down the stretch.

I'm not just saying what I'm saying out of patriotism,I'm saying it as a fan and as a boxing enthusiast aswell,by the way I seen that fight against Medina(both actually)and in the first one it he had a virus and so was'nt at his best,he was never hurt in that fight anyway and so in the rematch he dominated and brutalised Medina.
You're right about him not being the hardest to hit but thats only when he goes brawling
and 99% of the time he'll hit the other guy harder and more often and Harrison has a granite chin.
If in doubt watch Harrison v Chacon or Harrison v McCullough just as a couple example's.

Hang on, Harrison pulled out of the first scheduled fight with a dodgy tooth...then didn't make the rescheduled date himself, did he? Obviously Guzmans team made the right move
Dont think people are underestimating Harrison its just the elite fighters like Marquez, Guzman, Barrera look to have too much for him, thats all. ;)
