Should gatti?

Right so i know most boxing fans are saying gatti should retire right now!
and lord knows he's taken alot of punishment upto the point where he is now!
but is peoples opinions of gatti bieng shot based on the baldomir performance? or is it things like lack of opponents that he could beat or the punishment thing?
if its based on the baldomir performance, and there was any way of convincing me that gatti could win a couple of big bouts and ride off into the sunset without any harm, i would say crack on arturo..
my explanation is, as follows... at the end of the seventh i had gatti drawing with baldo,
of course gatti lost the next two rounds, and was dropped twice before the stoppage in the ninth!
but having seen how in gatti's winning rounds he would trade a bit and get away and he had baldo stumbling around having missed a big shot, and since we have seen him take immense punishment and come back to win yet more rounds all i can blame the loss on, is the fact he just plain looked piped out and let himself get beaten on. with more training and discipline to stick to a plan he could have won that fight! all he would have had to do is fight smarter, keep something in the tank till the latter rounds, and he made him miss and stumble like a clumsy giant if he were thinking strait there was some excellent counter opportunities..
in short depending on who gatti would want to fight before he leaves the game, i hope he fights again.
picks the opponents carefully, is in good condition and fully prepared with a solid gameplan for his last fights... and leaves the game.

I believe Gatti is contracted for a fight in the millions regardless. He should just fight someone that isn't too big.

hmm i wouldnt say noone too big, he would just need to do something he's never bothered doing before..
pick his opponent carefully, pick someone with a big name who he can expect to beat, then swat down to getting a solid gameplan and carry it out.

I love watching Gatti fights whether he wins or loses,his fights are always entertaining(with
one exception,which was the Mayweather fight) ...
His loss to Baldi was mainly,cause Gatti likes to brawl and Baldi just had the right strategy for that...
I don't think Gatti is shot,at least no more then he already was the last few years...I mean thats Gatti...

Gatti was exciting but I just was never a fan,however,I have just read an interview with him where he says that he does not plan on retiring,he's doing weights to become stronger and he wants to fight......Miguel Cotto. It sounds like he is quite serious and I know it is a fight the Cotto camp wanted to make so I would not be surprised to see it in the near future!

thats a good fight for both guys!
cotto is a good solid fighter, if he shows up right he has a big name on the record
and gatti has a chance because if he studies cotto correctly and is in good shape he could stop cotto!
frankly when i comes down to it i think gatti can probably take more then cotto whilst giving it out at the same time, and if cotto gets clocked , he either stays down, gets stopped or looses his composure and loses, not saying it would happen but its a possibility, one of the best fights out there for gatti definiately

Ricky Hatton (it's tough but it would give him the big bucks needed to retire without second guessing)
Junior Witter - Gatti can beat him
Diego Corrales - He can beat him
Ricardo Torres - tough but he can beat him
Zab Judah - Tough fight for Gatti to win but he wouldn't get fucked up fighting Zab

Lol i think he has the ability to beat cotto, but its a tough one..
i think he will more likely beat cotto then he will hatton..
williams is supposed to be this great prospect, and he would be a prospect, had he had 15 fights but having had thirty odd fights that just shows he has had poor opposition and he hasnt progressed enough during the fights where the experiance has built up..
as for margarito, i see it as another baldomir scenario, whether he tired out or not, the fight would be much the same except for the fact that margarito is faster then gatti so i think gatti gets stopped..
its just that tony is too young too strong and he has that killer instinct.

Not being a fan of Gatti's...I can honestly say that he's done a lot of good for boxing...but I truly believe that he's done all that he can do.

As for Gatti's ability to beat Miguel Cotto, I HIGHLY doubt it...Miguel is a younger, faster, harder punching, bigger, and all around better version of Arturo Gatti

I think Baldomir's chin and size were huge factors. The shots Gatti hit Baldomir with knock out or down 99 percent of the other fighters out there.

Williams stopped Mitchell faster than Floyd did

Cotto got rocked by Corley and dropped by Torres

BUT you're saying a man beaten by the likes of:
Mickey Ward
Ivan Robinson (TWICE)
Knocked SENSELESS by Angel Manfredy

Would have a shot vs Paul Williams and Miguel Cotto....I don't think so.
