Isn't it time for Teddy Reid, Zuri Lawrence, Gatti and Lacey to retire?
Each has taken a lot of punishment in different ways. Lacey doesn't seem to have the physical equipment any longer and reminds me of David Reid, Gatti & Reid have taken too much acccumulative punsishment which is the most dangerous, and Zuri has now been concussed two times in a row. Time for the gold watch.IMO ??? ??? ??? ???

Gatti, Reid, Lawrence.... Yes.
Lacy? He's still really young. He took one brutal beating, and then fought with a torn rotator cuff. He has some injuries to get over but hardly time to hang them up.

Lacy is still in his prime. Retire? He just won. With a torn rotator cuff no less. At his best, I think Lacy is the best fighter at 168. Maybe not better then Calzaghe but I still believe he could give Calzaghe a hell of a fight. He's not even 30 yet and he's had one bad fight. Come on now.

It's the rotator cuff I'm referring to. That's a very bad injury for a boxer, especially a so-called hooker. Ask Buddy McGirt.

Yeah, Lacey just bit off more than he could chew with a crafty veteran in Calzaghe. I think he still has a bit left in him and will come back into his own in due time.

If you give it time to heal it's fine. If a pitcher in baseball can tear a rotator cuff and move on, then a boxer can.

Agreed Lacey was owning Tyspko early on in that fight and you could see something changed very drastically..
I tell you what I admit that after the fight was over Bhop was standing next to Lacey and he was grabbing his shoulder telling Nard that it hurt bad and he did something to it.... I thought for a second that Jeff was doing damage control for his poor outing, turns out he finished the fight like a Warrior ;D
He will be fine

Its such a common injury Ted, that when a pitcher has the surgery he hadly newsworthy anymore..

I think your calling for a Lacy retirement too early. He has had major setbacks in his career but I don't think that means he should be looking to hang up his gloves already.

I will admit it is a bit of a "sense" or hunch,' but it just reminds me too much of David Reid. His last outing was dreadful and his fight against JC was more than dreadful. I began to notice the slip[page when he fought Syd Vanderpool. He beat him but could noiy really ice him. Then, Vanderpool got knocked unconcious in his next fight with Naco " Kisss of Death" Berrio. Still, of the three, he is the only doubtful one so far as the posters are concerned or so it seems. Zuri is road kill. Gatti is a tad controversial and Reid needs to get out right now.

David Reid had a detatched retina. He couldn't see the punches coming at him. Lacy got beat once, and has had a couple of tough fights. He's still young. Gatti has made enough money, and had enough great fights to call it a day, he's just risking injury now and he doesn't need the money or the big win to make his career. Not much left for him.

Re: Isn't it time for Teddy Reid, Zuri Lawrence, Gatti and Lacey to retire?
....I think it's time for everyone who calls for retirement after 1 bad fight to retire.
After Wlad lost to Sanders..."Retire....he needs to retire, he can't take a punch"
After Gatti lost to Manfredy "Retire...you're a shot fighter"
After Lacy suffers his FIRST LOSS OF HIS CAREER "Retire you took a beating"
It's a little premature to call for retirement after 1 loss isn't it? I mean these guys are PRIZE FIGHTERS they get beat up for money.....Jeff Lacy has ONE loss.....I think it's time for a guy like MARION WILSON to retire but not Jeff Lacy.
A case could be made for James Toney he slurs his speech now and I can't understand anything he says

Totally agreed. All but Jeff Lacy should retire. I'm gonna miss Gatti and Reid though. Damnit those two should have fought each other in their primes, ya wanna talk about a slugfest!
