~O'neil Bell, arrested in Big Bear~ (Update 2/15/06)

The Unified Cruiserweight champ. O'Neil Bell was arrested for "allegedly" assaulting his sparring partner while jogging near his training camp in Big Bear, California. The guy is identified as Larry Slayton, he said that Bell attacked him with a hatchet and then threw large rocks at him. Slayton told investigators that he was in fear for his life. He has minor injuries from running through the vegetation as he ran from Bell through the woods. The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Dept., said Bell has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon based on both of Slaytons (victim's) claims and evidence at the scene. Bell was training in Big Bear for a March 17 re-match against Jean-Marc Mormeck in Paris.

What is it with these boxers and doing these crazy things, I just don't get some of these things..... ???

By the looks of it, there was evidence there I will assume the large rocks he threw and also the 'hatchet'.... More then likely the re-match is off and Mormeck will face off against the #2 ranked Cruiser....

Gonna assume the fight will be off, I mean for the Sherrif's Dept. to have found evidence that means 'IF' they finger print the hatchet & the bolders/large rocks and his hands are on them hes gonna do some time.......

Thats an utterly bizarre story, I would be surprised if it holds up...

The question is what led up to the hatchet toss.

I'd bet this "Slayton" character had more than one chance to shut his mouth and let Bell cool his jets.

Saw this yestarday when the site was down. Completely bizarre. I was just coming around on Bell to, I like Mormeck but he was starting to become one of my favorites and then I read that one of my favorite boxers got arrested for chasing someone through the woods with an axe. Haha that's insane.

Anyone remember that post fight interview with Bell after he got the decision against Dale Brown on FNF, where Joe Tessitore pissed off Bell.
Tessitore: Well, all due respect, I thought you lost the fight fairly convincingly.
Bell: Fairly convincingly huh?!
Then Teddy butted in and changed the subject or some shat.
I bet Tessitore is rethinking that move. Might tune into FNF one night, and there will be Teddy, and sittin next to him will be Tessitore with a fukin hatchet stuck in his head. ;D

according to the San Bernardino Sherrifs Dept. charges will NOT be filed against Bell due to a lack of evidence to prove him guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
He will be able to face Jean-Marc on March 17th...

Man this just cracks me up. Bell better thank his lucky stars that one of NASA's finest decided to drive across country in depends because that was a bizarre story. Cracks me up. CC 1089 for the update.
