Thoughts on Miranda Now

I have to say that Miranda again showed what he is as a fighter, a brawler that has limited boxing skills. I now see people saying he got knocked down because he got his feet tangled, well that is the problem with him I have been commenting on for some time. His footwork sucks and he is often off balance. Give whatever excuse you want but the fact is he got knocked down by Green a super middleweight that dropped too much weight and was weaker than he thought he would be at that weight.

Oh and lets talk about the great power of Miranda, especially on a guy that most on here and other boards was saying had a glass chin. The thing I thought highly of with Miranda before the fight I believe is suspect now, is his power real or is it hyped because of his competition, other than Eastman which I thought was a quick stoppage, who has he KO'd in his last 7 fights no one of merit. Other than the 10th round he never seriously hurt Green, other than the rabbit punches or low blows. I also watched the 1st knockdown in slow motion and he hit Green with 3 of 10 punches he threw. This is another I have been saying for some time, he is a very inaccurate puncher especially when he feels the other fighter is in trouble, he becomes more wild. Watch the stoppage against Eastman and see the amount of punches that really landed.

I am more confident now than I was after Miranda's last fight that Kelly Pavlik will beat him. He lacks any real boxing skills, is more times than not very off balance, only trying to land the big punch, and gets hit a lot. He had big swelling on both eyes from getting hit by Green. I feel Green has slight bit better boxing skills than Pavlik but not by much and he does not have nearly the power that Pavlik does.

Pavlik in a KO by the 6th, the only thing that will change that is if Miranda learns to fight with balance, becomes less wild, and learns some boxing skills over the next few months. I believe none of this is possible, a leopard can not change his spots, Miranda is who Miranda is a brawler that had a hard life and is entertaining, this does not make lasting champions.

One last thing, I lost some respect for him because he stated that he wanted to stay unbeaten, he still cannot give credit Abraham on his win. The guy beat him with a broken jaw, be a man and move on. Miranda you have lost and you need to accept it, you fought a dirty fight and lost points because of it. It was no different than the Green fight, points should have been deducted from Miranda for some of his dirty tactics but he was in PR and the ref did not deduct any points.

I really like Miranda for his heart and determination, and his personal backstory but honestly as world talent I'd put him behind Jeff Lacy.

HBO are hyping him up to be some kind of monster in the division but honestly he's just an average fighter, with loads of natural strength and a big heart.

He's kind of like an in shape Sam Peter, but whereas Peter fights in a division boasting less talent than a Newcastle brothel Miranda will have to compete against some of the top p4p fighters in the world.

In my opinion Taylor, Hopkins, Wright, Pavlick, Abraham, Calzaghe, Kessler, Andrade, Froch, Bute, Mundine, Dawson all beat him with several fighters having a chance to knock him out.

If he fights Pavlick next I'd fancy Pavlick to stop him inside the distance or if not give him a Calzaghe/Lacy style beatdown.

An entertaining fighter but not one of the world's best.

I also liked seeing Allan Green get punked off too :)

That boy is a Monster!!! Not to mention he showed a decent jab and head movement, He was also disciplined enough to keep his right hand glued to his head to defend against Green's left hook... Trash the kid all you want the truth is he keeps improving everyfight and showed controlled aggression against Green, instead of jumping all over him with an unbridled attack... You can definetly see some matureity in this fight...

Miranda has alot better technical skill than Sam Peter ::** and all you who think he dosent have the goods are seriously mistaken, Jermain Taylor hasnt scored a Ko in years and couldnt put away a natural 147 pounder gets gassed and has a bad punch selection and totally abandoned his weapon that got him to the dance and thats his jab Taylor aint Ko'ing Miranda period!!!, if you say Miranda is limited than that goes exactly the same for the Undisputed linear Middleweight Champion of the World, sorry to say but Miranda would have Taylor Counting ceiling tiles...

Guys are way to critical, It was good that Miranda went the distance and got some rounds in, again NO ONE, looks good against a gunshy opponent that is constantly backing up throwing 1 punch at a time and then grabbing your head I DONT CARE WHAT ANYONE SAYS, Miranda fought a perfect fight didnt expand to much energy and showed a balanced attack, again I cant stress it enough how impressed I was with Edison showing great restraint and picking his spots and not getting overly frustrated with Greens passive style...

I honestly believe that John David Jackson and Allen Green figured Miranda would come out Tysonesque and throw caution to the wind winging away carelessly and thought if he could withstand the barrage Miranda would tire himself out from frustration, well when Miranda never tired and stayed controlled they knew they were screwed...

And as far as in being only a 10 round fight NO ONE AND I MEAN NO ONE who was a pure boxing fan would have figured it would have gone the distance, hell with conventional wisdom they could have made it a 6 round fight and no one would have figured it would go the distance....

Miranda is world class and will be just fine, wouldn't be suprised if he was undisputed middleweight champ by the end of the summer,thats if Dibella wants to put his bread and butter in with Pantera... It wouldn't be pretty I cantell you that ;)

Miranda is a very good and strong fighter.Unpolished but strong. I think a fighter like Bernard Hopkins would be his only downfall. He makes too many small mistakes for a very skilled fighter like Bernard. Overplay his Right hand and make him beat you with his Left. Bernard would pick him APART. fortunatly he doesnt have to fight him so I think he has a good chance at being a CHAMP. Joe C would beat him also.

Green talked so much trash coming in to this fight and as soon as he got hit in the first round he did nothing but back-peddle for the remainder of the fight. It is easy to say that Green has a glass chin and that he was weaker due to coming down in weight. The fact is that Miranda also went up in weight to face green. Loss of power is just as likely when a fighter moves up as when he moves down.

Weight issues aside Miranda staggered green numerous times throughout the fight. Think about it, how many times did you see Pantera holding Green or trying to tie him up? If you said none, you'd be right. Miranda stayed busy and was looking to trade the entire night.

I agree he may not be the most polished guy in the world but seriously what more can you ask for as a fight fan than a guy aggressively going for the knockout even though he knows he has the fight sewn up? If that were Hopkins or Mayweather you'd be asleep by the 12th round.

As a Miranda fan I was actually a little nervous that Green might get lucky and land something because Pantera never backed down for a second. Green stated that all Miranda had was a punchers chance in this fight. Well from the looks of it Green didn't even have that!

If the final three minutes didn't convince you that Miranda is the most exciting fighter in the sport, I don't know what will. The fight could have easily ended in a TKO. If the ref had stopped the fight in the 12th it would have been justified. Especially after the second knockdown in the 12th when Green pulled Miranda's shorts down trying to hold himself up.

The fight was a Middleweight in which they weighed in at 162 lbs

It was a 10 round fight and although Green was floored 2x in the 10th he wasn't out of it so bad that it warranted a TKO and I hate Green and am a huge fan of Miranda but I'm Just helping you out kindly bud, before someone spouts off at the mouth toward you ;)

As far as wieght goes I heard HBO all night calling it a middleweight fight but unless I'm mistaken official weights of 162 makes it a Super Middleweight bout doesn't it? Middleweight limit being 160 and Super being 168. If you know something that I don't please let me know.

Yea no kidding... I like Miranda a whole lot but my loyalty is with Jeff and always will be, I would totally be stressed watching this fight with plenty of anxious feelings but in the end I think Jeff has battled thru much more ring adversity and has learned pleny of valuable lessons... Jeff loves to mix it up so Miranda wouldnt have to go looking and vice versa.. I think Jeff has the better handspeed, strenght and chin to get by Miranda... My only fear is that if Miranda breaks him up, even I the most staunch and loyal Lacy fan would have to concede he would be just about shot :-\

Jeff would gut this one out though he is to much of a proud warrior and determined....

Way off. Wayyyyy off. Taylor, though faulted, is probably stronger than Miranda and if you have piss-poor defense as Miranda does, he will eat shots from Taylor all night until he takes a nap. Taylor's defense is lackluster, but at least he has an awareness of it and he'll clear Miranda out long before he gets tired.
