I'm tipping Bonsante to upset Duddy this weekend........
I've got a sneaky feeling that Anthony Bonsante is going to suprise a whole lot of people this weekend and take Duddy the distance, and if he gets a fair decision could even beat him.
Since being stopped by the much bigger Allan Green last year he's strung together 3 wins and was apparently impressive last time out in beating arch rival Matt Vanda.
Vanda won a split decision over Yuri Boy Campas in 05 and we know what a war he gave John Duddy.
Bonsante scored a UD over Vanda over 10 rounds winning 8 or 9 rounds on all the judges cards.
He was completely schooling Jesse Brinkley in both of their fights, and the second one he showed he had learnt from the mistakes in the first fight by pitching a 5 round shutout on everyone's cards but the judges.
I'm really excited about this one folks, I think this could be the big upset of the weekend.
What do you guys think? Do you even care? lol

Actually a little glance through Bonsante's record he's fought some great competition.
He got a draw with Prince Badi Ajami in 02 and actually ended Tony Ayala's career TKO'ing him in the 11th round.
He's also beaten the mighty Reggie Strickland and put him down twice ;D
Went 12 rounds with Manfredo too
We'll ignore his draw with Tocker Pudwill though :-X

You forget he's the world's greatest dad, this mofo will walk through fire to provide for his kids.
Trust me, it won't be a celebration meal at McDonalds for the Bonsante family after Friday, now he will be able to splash out and order a nice home delivered Pizza!
Re: I'm tipping Bonsante to upset Duddy this weekend........
I actually really like Bonsantes attitude and the fact that he is a single dad who fights on the side for his family. Id certainly love to see him beat Duddy who I feel is an overhyped kid who we wouldn't even know of if it wasn't for him being Irish.. don't ask me why Irish fighters are hyped right off the bat but it seems that way.. I mean what has Duddy ever done?? He was given all hell by the closest thing he's fought to a shell of a former contender.. Bonsante is deservedly an underdog but it wouldn't surprise me in the least if he won really, like you say Bilbo he's fought much, much better guys... Duddy's got heart though so that's why I see him winning.. It will come down to who's the better boxer above all and Duddy's probably got a bit more going for him.. But not much imo. The guy will never be champion.

Im a bit torn on this one, I feel for Bonsante, being the single dad/working part-time while fighting. But I'm Irish....so I'll be hoping for a knockout for Duddy, and a full time job for Bonsante at Wal-Mart. May the best man win. ;)

maybe wish for Bonsante to get a fork lift drivers license or something and become warehouse manager lol

Bonsante is a good guy but I just don't see him beating Duddy. Glad he's getting a pay day though!
I would LOVE to see someone, anyone beat the attitude out of Sergio Mora that guy gets on my last nerve
Re: I'm tipping Bonsante to upset Duddy this weekend........
I think that Bonsante is just to limited of a fighter. He knows what he can do and does it the best he can, but I dont think it is going to be good enough. Duddy on the other hand is still an up and coming prospect, who still has some good upside. I see Duddy edging this one out winning 7 or 8 rounds. Bonsante will put up a good enough showing, but just wont have enough to win it.

100% agree with everything.
Re: I'm tipping Bonsante to upset Duddy this weekend........
i like bonsante and all but i dont think he will be winning. if he comes out ready he might come close but lose a suspect decision, like the second brinkley fight.

Thats how I likely see it going, a gutsy brave Bonsante wins the fight in the eyes of all viewing it but the judges go with Duddy.
I hope not though. If he can keep out of trouble I reckon he's the better boxer of the two. Plus to me it's a better story if Bonsante wins.

The fact alone that they are fighting on St. Pattys day tells me no matter what Duddys gonna win... :(
