Many Steward" a great trainer but horrible analyst. Agree or disagree?

I am sick of listening his many flip flopping comments in mid-sentence. First he has MAB as a lock then JMM as a cinch! Also, he has a terrible knack of saying things early on that don't materialize. For example, last might he said there will be absolutley no clinches in this fight. But there were a lot of clinches late in the fight. I can excuse Manny's horrible grammar but I can't excuse his criticizm of other trainers.

Stick to training fighters. :( :( O0

i like him. he seems fair most times.

Would you rather listen to the nonsensical rants of that idiot Lampley? Steward does a good job, and for the opening rounds of the bout there was no clinching. There is nothing wrong with Steward's grammar. He's a thoughtful and much respected commentator IMHO. I'd rather listen to Steward than have to suffer through the pretentious rantings of Lampley; a man who is completely full of himself along with a ton of back-door sewage. Lampley has difficulty distinguishing between what types of punches are thrown during a bout...Hello, Jimbo...anyone home? There's a difference between a right hand and a left hook you fukin troglodyte. But perhaps he was having flashbacks or daydreaming about beating up women. ::**

I don't know I like em all in some way, merchant the drunk, lampley the escaped lunatic cause he'll see some great combos and punches land that seemingly noone else can for certain hbo fighters, yet just chuckles me up, well manny doesnt really bother me except like someone said he will talk to much and stuff comes back to bite him in the ass kinda...

I like Steward, I think he does a very good job.

He said there wouldn't be much clinching, and he was right. There were hardly any clinches, until late in the fight when they were both exhausted.

I think he is much better as an analyst. I would say Manny is partly to blame for the Heavyweight division being boring and on the decline. from Lewis to Klitchko and now he even has Taylor and Cintron holding on as a strategy . YUK ! O0

They are both full of it, but at least Lampley is entertaining. I expect more from Steward.

Good post, man. The grappling should be left to MMA. I'm in total agreement with this assessment. However, it's a testament to Manny's 'Genius' as a trainer that he uses the rules against the sport and protects his fighters (in most cases) from taking unnecessary punishment.

:coolclick: #370 True. That ! .. Boxing commissions need to enforce that holding rule , especially in high profile fights, if for no other reason then it turns casual fans off to the sport ,
When fans see fighters in the ring holding on to each other , it makes for a bad watch and kills any positive momentum for the future of boxing matches being televised and so forth . O0

Can you please explain why MannySteward is a genius?

For a trainer who forgets what the fighters whose corner he's in name is and a man who does'nt know what round if it i wouldn't call him a genius !!

I would call him a self promoting hired gun!!!

Has anyone here ever trained with Manny Steward or fought under him or at the Kronk ?

Genius just like Simon Cowell .

I'm not the biggest fan of Manny because I think he tries to hard to be the broadcaster instead of speaking from he trainer's but he did a very good job last night.

Manny's only problem is he's monotone (I think I spelled it right ???)...His voice pretty much stays at the same level and he never seems to get to into the fights themselves....At times it makes it seem as though he is bored....
As far as his knoweldge goes I appreciate it also IMO he is unbiased.....If he had a little more range in his voice he would be great but I can't say I don't like him....

Now some may disagree or laugh at me about this one but.....IMO Lennox Lewis and Roy Jones are two pretty good announcers I don't mind listening to...Roy even has a bit of a sense of humor...Lennox tries hard and with a bit more experience would be a favorite of mine
