'The Boxer's' take on round 7 your opinons welcome
round 7 could have been score a few ways.
1. 10-8 JMM.
JMM was clearly beating Barrera that round untill he got knock down in the last few seconds. before the knock some of you may have had the round 10-9 JMM. at the knock down the score was 9-9 then barrera quick and intentialy hit JMM while he was down making it 10-8. which means Barrera wasn't givin creadit for his knock down. he loss a point for losing the round and another point for hitting a man while he was down.10-8 JMM
2. 10-9 JMM the judges way
as before JMM winning the round barrera knocks him down in the last few seconds and then hits Barrera while he's down. before the knock down 10-9 and after the knock down 9-9 but when barrera hit JMM while he was down they gave JMM his point back making it 10-9. meaning that barrera wasn't giving credit for the knock down and that he wasn't penalized for hitting a man while he was down.
3. 9-8 JMM my way. i may be wrong though
as before JMM was winnig the round 10-9 but then gets knock down in the last few seconds. making the round 9-9. say what you want the that was a damn good shot. then barrera hit JMM intentialy while he's down which causes him to lose a point making the round 9-8 JMM. meaning barrera was givin credit for the knock down and was penalized for hitting a man while he was down.

i love how HBO totaly ignore the fact the barrera hit a man while he was down.
Re: 'The Boxer's' take on round 7 your opinons welcome
That's all well and good but their was no official KD and the "10 point must system" means just that. One fighter must get at least 10 points.
JMM was clearly winning 10-9 before the KD. If the KD had counted and there was no foul, MAB would've won it 10-9. Marquez can't win the round or get an even round because he has to lose a point for getting dropped, leaving MAB the only person who can recieve 10 points. It's not 10-8 because he was getting his head handed to him before the KD.
Point deductions are usually counted as affecting the round just to keep it straight in spectators heads, but the points are deducted from the final tally. This means the deduction has no effect on the scoring of the round to an official judge.
So what we're left with is JMM beating the hell out of MAB for an entire round with no official KD and a point deduction that doesn't effect the scoring of the round. JMM 10-9, 10-8 if you count the deduction as part of the round.

Exactly.
I mean everyones talking all about the missed knockdown but no ones mentioning the fact that MAB hit JMM while he was on the ground...
Re: 'The Boxer's' take on round 7 your opinons welcome
Pretty much. But you get a clearer perspective if you ignore the deduction.
The outcome is clear. There was no KD, so it is irrelevant. Don't talk about it in regards to scoring. It never happened. JMM won the round and MAB lost a point.
Re: 'The Boxer's' take on round 7 your opinons welcome
since the knock wasn't counted it should be like this.
10-9 JMM untill the untill the foul then making it 10-8 JMM.

I also found it funny how Jim Lampley was so biased towards Barrera, that even in the play by play he was calling shots for Barrera that were never thrown.. I found that amusing as hell ! LMFAO !

Lampley always does this with Barrera fights. He gets almost as excited about Barrera as he does when De La Hoya throws one of those 7 punch flurries where 1 punch lands and all the others miss.
There were a ton of times in the Barrera-Morales trilogy, where they'd have an exchange, and Morales would crush Barrera across the face with a right cross, and Lampley would yell, "MASSIVE LEFT HOOK BY BARRERA!!!!!!"

hahah he used that last bit in last nights fight a fair bit as well... I actually just finished watching it now, there were several exchanges early in the fight where he would yell that and the only thing I could pick out as landing clean was a Marquez right hand..
