do you think i should go pro, any comments appreciated
im from sutton in ashfield, nottinghamshire, england and have been boxing for 6 years now. im 18 years of age and wanting to go pro. i have had 1 amateur bout and that bout was 4 the golden belt northern zone championship. i won the bout easily on points 14-3 against a lad who was unbeaten at 7-0 with 4kos on his record. and i won the bout on his home territory so there werent nothing fixed about it. in my 6 year career i have struggled 2 get bouts cos the amateur club im associated with are unreliable and there isnt another for 30 miles. the amateur club is now non existant. in my career i have had great sparring with former ibo super flyweight champion jason booth, former british bantumweight champion nicky booth, commonwealth bantumweight champion joseph agbeko, tuition from neville brown, former british middleweight champion and world title contender and sparring with members formerly of the latvian amateur boxing team. my trainer however is thinkin of givin his pro licsence up 2 become an amaTEUR COACH cos of the situation mentioned earlier. things are done different in the uk than the usa i know. i now think i have out grown the amateurs after years of spendin in the gym and with a pro trainer at that.
i want to turn pro. please give me your thought and opinions please??

from wot i have told u from my experience is that enough to go pro? do i sound good enough?
Re: do you think i should go pro, any comments appreciated
It sounds like you are getting good training and some decent sparring, but I would think twice about going pro with just one bout under your belt. Gym fighting - as you know - is very different from the real thing, and I have seen fantastic gym fighters who just could not produce the same form in the ring.
I don't know if you are good enough, as I haven't seen you in action and (if I was you) I would not accept any advice from anyone on this forum about whether you are good enough, as there is not enough info in your post to make a proper reasoned decision.
Personally, mate, you are only young and - while some great great fighters have had little or no amateur experience, they are very much in the minority. I really doubt whether you can have truly grown out of the ameteur game having only had one bout and being only 18 (and I am not trying to put you down or anything by saying that) ....... you would be better off turning at pro at 21 or so with 40 or 50 amatuer bouts under your belt, in my opinion, anyway.
Whatever you decide, good luck to you - and I hope it works out!

are you travelling for your sparring or is that based at your current club? I'd certainly look at my options and at your age you have many. That includes another couple of years or so getting some experience in the ring.
You may find since you've been sparring pro's for a while your style may not feel right for the quick in 1-2-3 and out amateur style and I think this is what you're suggesting. I know that style doesn't feel right to me BUT as X has mentioned (an I think what he's suggesting is good advice) you must talk with your trainer and the other pro's at the gym, be clear about your aims and best of luck to you. Don't feel pressured in to making a quick £ for the sake of your potential and development.

I read your posts, I'd like to see some of your sparring footage just to see how your style is. I can't really tell you much based off your writing alone, just use your head don't rush into things. What did your trainer along with the pros there say?
