Valuev-Chagaev- was one judge on the take.
114-114: that is complete corruption. It was hard to pick any rounds that Valuev won.
And I am glad that comcast sport aired the fight, but they had the worst announcer. One old guy mumbling through the fight, kissing don king's ass, and acting like Valuev was winning. It was sick.
There should be a rule - that you always have to have 2 announcers. Listoning to one guy talk to himself is boring.
Re: Valuev-Chagaev- was one judge on the take.
Yeh i thought the one commentator thing was weird..
And the draw on one card even weirder...I had it almost a shutout..1 round to val and i thought i was bieng generous.. I would have loved to see the giant topple though!
Peace

You are very strange - Valuev was robbed indeed in this fight.

I cannot believe that I am the only person from saddoboxing.com who thinks Valuev won that fight.  He won 4 of the last 5 without a doubt and the first three.
Chagaev was constintley backed up against the ropes and was sucking wind the last half of the fight.
Clobbering Valuev upside the head a few times each round doesn't make you the winner.  Most of his shots were glancing and weak.
I didn't want the Russian Giant to break Marciano's record so I am not too upset about this, but I still can't figure out why I am alone in thinking he beat Chagaev yesterday.
Re: Valuev-Chagaev- was one judge on the take.
The judge who had it even was Stanley Christoudoulou of South Africa...Actually the most renown
of the three judges...I think the judge who scored it 115:113 was the closest...

See? ;D
I for one have yet to see the fight...I hoped that he'd win because I honestly wanted to see Valuev Klitschko.
Re: Valuev-Chagaev- was one judge on the take.
the announcer was the man, and one announcer alone is the shit, joey styles used to do that shit all the time
also, sheridan was calling the bodog fight 2 card over in russia, hes the guy msg used last time
Re: Valuev-Chagaev- was one judge on the take.
Valuev way to slow and mechanical.
Chagaev fought a good smart fight ducking under the long jab of the big man.
He connected with more than enough punches to win by imo 118-110
Chagaev-Maskaev would be a smashing fight
Re: Valuev-Chagaev- was one judge on the take.
Chagaev won that fight, no question. I can't see how you gave 5 final round to Valuev...Chagaev connected more often than Valuev, all these left to the head....valuev never connected with his long left jab...
dam, I'm sure you had Pernell Whitaker losing all the time then, the guy was just moving, avoiding punch and countering...
Re: Valuev-Chagaev- was one judge on the take.
I guess its possible but there are some judges that are just obsessed with agression, even if its not that effective.
I didn't really score the fight but there were some close rounds, especially early. I didn't agree with the commentator, I don't know why he gave all those late rounds to Valuev.
Valuev was pretty bad though, he did throw the jab but that's about it. How many right hands did he even throw? Didn't seem like that many. Just followed him around.

I thought it was very close. I watched a German version before knowing the result so was scoring the fight myself. I felt going into the last 3 rounds Valuev was behind but he came back to win 10 and 11 imo and I thought he was about level. Then I had Chagaev winning the 12th so though Chagaev was going to win.
When the scores were announced I thought they sounded about right. It wasn't a one sided fight at all. Chagaev landed the better shots but was on the defensive the whole time and Valuev won some rounds by virtue of being the only fighter trying to fight.
Really not much action at all, some rounds very hard to score and neither fighter had the other remotely in trouble at any time during the fight.
Chagaev deserved the win, but not by much and I was expecting a draw to be honest as I thought no way Valuev loses his title on points if it's a close one.
I got to say though I did really want Valuev to win, so to be honest where a round was very close and could have gone either way, I probably subconsciously sided with Valuev, where as others might have subconsciously sided with Chagaev if they wanted to see the underdog pull it off.
But Chagaev won the fight on the back foot, rarely engaging Valuev and never landing more than one punch at a time. It was a case of stay away...stay away...dart in land a punch....get away....stay away.....dart in land a punch......stay away...and repeat for 12 uneventful rounds.
If anyone has ever played the Elder Scrolls game Oblivion, the fight was very much like fighting an Ogre in that game.....back off...back off..run forward...strike with you sword.....back off......run forward....back off....etc.
Re: Valuev-Chagaev- was one judge on the take.
I guess I have to reconsider my original post, maybe I was biased in my scoring (because I was rooting for "white Tyson", but you have to admit, Valuev himself was acting like he lost the second the bell rang, and the audiance seemed to think Ruslan was a clear winner, even before the scores were annouced.
Re: Valuev-Chagaev- was one judge on the take.
Sorry, but you said it yourself mate, Chagaev at least connected with his punches, something Valuev wasn't able to do. How can we score a round for someone not hitting his opponent then ?
Chagaev used at least a good tactic against valuev, he connected so often with his left hook...he truly deserved to win IMO

This I have no problem accepting. Your entire post is excellent.
