Where did they go wrong with Judah??
I was watching the Mystery of Zab's disco hands on the thread posted by Danny_G...( funny stuff by the way) and it got me thinking....Judah has become some what of a joke.....How did this happen??
OK he had the set back in the Tszyu fight....It can be blamed on inexperience and the fact he took Kostya lightly...something I blame more on his camp then him for not making sure he took Kostya seriously....
Then the spinks loss,,,he comes back and dominates,,,takes Baldomir lightly then loses the title,,,fights Floyd is winning the first part of the fight..a little bit of momentum change and he just breaks down throws it all away and gets suspended for the second time....
Maybe it is me but I just don't get it....
I am not a Judah fan but as a fan of boxing I know this much....
This guy had/has it all....Speed,,power,,he moves well,,when on point his defense is good ( assuming he doesn't get cocky like in the Tszyu fight and think he can't get hit)..and his chin though not granite not glass either...
When you break it down Zab has all the makings of a pound for pound great....The tools are there lokie him or hate him he has what it takes..Yet his mental make up gets him in trouble every time...Be it Arrogance or just frustration during fights he seems to break down when it is most important...
Why doesn't his team work on that?...Help build his mind set?....Help him become the fighter he has all the potential to be...
He has 5 world title in his collection,,an undisputed title,,,a ring title and some minor titles...Impressive for any fighter...yet he has the ability to do so much more...there are guys out there with a tenth of his natrual ability and who try thier asses off and are willing to do what ever it takes...
Here we have this guy throwing all that away......It pisses me off when I see such wasted talent like that...
Who do we blame for this??..his handlers??...trainers???..promoters??...for not helping him fix his attitude...or is he a case where it is hopeless to even try??
Re: Where did they go wrong with Judah??
I really don't think there's anyone necessarily to blame. You can't train a fighter to be mentally tough, to be able to focus in the moments when the pressure is the highest, etc.
I think it's something you either have or you don't.
It's not just athletes, but people in general. Some people, when the pressure is highest, they can focus more than ever. Others crack under pressure. That's just the way it is.
Some fighters have intangibles, other don't. Zab has absolutely none. That's never going to change, in my opinion.
He's always going to be a front runner who falls apart when he's seriously challenged.
Re: Where did they go wrong with Judah??
I think Zab is to blame, he lacks heart and composure.
Re: Where did they go wrong with Judah??
Not to sound snippish...but this one's simple...
THEY did not go wrong...JUDAH is what went wrong with JUDAH.
Re: Where did they go wrong with Judah??
He lacks character. I think SOME of it can be blamed on his upbringing. The rest is just him.
Re: Where did they go wrong with Judah??
You can train as hard as anyone and be as talented as anyone, but once you step between those ropes, the real you comes out. And you can't run from the real you no matter how quick you are.
Re: Where did they go wrong with Judah??
Zab is weak mentally thats all. He lacks belief in himself when things dont go his way and does silly things. Bags of talent and ability though........Tyson was the same.

Re: Where did they go wrong with Judah??
where did they go wrong?
hmm...his a famous boxer, thats more than any parent can say. its all him now though. he could of reach the top of tops but he got stuck to the wrongs so never got to learn the rights.
luckily for him his facing cotto next and that is another opportuninty for him to better himself. if he wants to beome a better boxer his going to need to become a better person first.
Re: Where did they go wrong with Judah??
I'd say it's his inner circle.
Look how many "soldiers" he brought with him to meanless tune up fight on ESPN2...
There are too many voices whispering in his ear and too many distractions in his day-to-day living. He has to justify everything to the crew, ya know. Prove he's still a "thug 4 life."

Re: Where did they go wrong with Judah??
Judah has no one else to blame but himself, he should have changed his team including his father ( much to close to be objective enough) He is still getting opportunities (Cotto) yet he bleats about not getting a break! He says he loves boxing and he has no intention of retiring anytime soon, if that is the case Zab get rid of all those hanger ons (did you see all those Bozo's in the ring at the Galvan fight!) find new trainers/handlers and completely start afresh because the Cotto fight might be your last chance!
I think what frustrates all of us on this forum is that we recognize his talent and it pisses most us off seeing this clown throw it all away.

Yeah there is no reason for that many people to be in the ring. They really should have a rule against that and enforce it. But as far as Zab he has been the same fighter his whole career and that wont change. At this point a change in his team wont do him any good.
