does calzaghe get credit for beating Eubank?
i remember that chris was a shell but Jc did look good...but it was obvious that chris wasn't the same fighter...just wondering does anyone give JC credit for beating him...

Certainly.
While Eubank was past it...I'm not so sure that I'd say he was a shell or a ghost or something like that. He was still fundamentally with it enough to give Joe a good 12. I was really impressed with both men in that fight.
I think many fail to give Calzaghe his dues & hunt waaaaay to many reasons to justify it.

nah i don't that many reasons..i give him his credit for undefeated and winning all of his fights he's great..but he's not as great as his record might suggest...

That was a broad statement...not directed at you.

nah nah i know it wasn't aimed at me...i was giving my opinion on the part that I do understand..that many do expect too much from fighters..
he has to beat lacy, then fight bhop, winky, kessler all inside 18months etc etc etc....
while it doesn't take that much for me to be completely sold on him as "great" or on eubanks' level i would like to see him fight and beat one of the better experienced americans...not taylor either because he's just as flawed and green as lacy and would be moving up to fight JC
Re: does calzaghe get credit for beating Eubank?
It was at 12 stone so not really. Eubank was a 182-185lb bloke without an ounce of fat on him - we all saw what went on in the Benn II, Close II, Collins II, Amaral, Storey and Schommer fights when he'd dried out to make the 12. Put simply he looked fucking shit and lost all those fights clearly (apart from Storey). He had to lose 20lbs in a week for Calzaghe, and it showed as his offense was grubby as fuck that night.

Eubank was weight drained and had like a week to make the weight plus he was well past it and losing to Collins twice imo he shouldn't get much credit for beating weight drained past it Eubank fair play Eubank hung in there but it was nowhere near a prime Eubank.

I just think that your'e wrong there.
Eubank fought a good fight & again...he was still able to give Joe a good fight.
By that age account & being past it...pretty much every fighter out there has been in the same position as Joe was with Eubank.
Take Tarver for instance...Roy was weight drained & blah blah blah...granted he had more time, but he still gave Tarver a hard fight...& IWO...he lost the first fight to Tarver...just as he did the two to follow. My point is...the skill level & abilities were still there in Eubank & no matter what he or his team said after the fact. Also...IWO, Eubank was a fool to take such a fight on that short of notice. Coming out of retirement & not being prepped with no longer than a week to make weight...that's his fault.
I never NEVER said anything about primes...but if the question arises...I have no doubts about the outcome being different in the end...Joe would have been victorious. For some reason...many people just forget to factor in Joe's output & they often lable it as pitter pat or slap shots...which, clearly by the amount of TKO's, his punches add up to much more than that.

Besides being the father of your love child...Larry Donald has nothing to do with this discussion, Sugar Puss.
Next question please...yes...you in the back... ;) ;D :-*

roy won that fight...but that's off topic
Re: does calzaghe get credit for beating Eubank?
He doesn't get enough credit IMO - ofc it wasn't the real chris eubank, but eubank wa sin good shape, fought a damn good fight, but people overlook the fact that joe was very very green. almost everyone of his fights up untill then had ended fast - so even tho chris was past his best he brought alot of experience and ring savy to the ring that would be hard for any green fighter to have to overcome...

Fact of the matter is Eubank was more past it than when Jones fought Tarver as someone said he had to lose silly amount of weight like 20 pounds in one week how good can you be in on short notice like that ?? he hung in there and made it competitive but Joe shouldn't get credit for it i don't see why you should give him credit either but that speaks for its self that Joes biggest win is again weight drained shot Eubank.

See thats where your wrong he may of looked in shape from outside but really how good can someone be in shape losing like 20 pounds wasn't it ?? in a week i don't see how much credit you can give him for beating old shot weight drained Eubank ??
