Tarver More Interested in Facing Jeff Lacy than Dawson

So if I give the guy an opportunity, it is going to be because I want to, because I feel like the fight is going to make sense and dollars. When I beat Chad Dawson, it has to give me something. I am not here trying to give away advantages. I am into taking advantages," Tarver said.

"As the people’s champ, I think a fight with Jeff Lacy would be more credible because I think Jeff has the bigger name right now than Chad Dawson. I am on the record saying that because I think I can really show the world what a guy like (Joe) Calzaghe should have done. How do you beat a man for 12 rounds unmercifully and do not stop him or knock him out? Because you are hitting with feathers, that is why. You are punching with paper. There is no man going to stand up and take a beating from me for 12 rounds. Period. Calzaghe is fool’s gold. If he wants to fight, I am willing and ready to step up to fight. I think that fight makes more sense than a Chad Dawson fight.

I like his Calzaghe comments but hope Lacy KO's him the Tarver ship has sailed unfortunately he were'nt on it.

Since when is Tarver the people's champion? He can say Calzaghe has paper shots all he likes, but if Tarver stepped in with Joe...or Kessler...he'd get KTFO and he knows it.

Both guys have looked poor recently so what once would have been a superfight is now nothing more than a small hall show . Dont even know who i'd be tipping , they are both so bad but Tarver has shown flashes of skill vs Jones and Johnson whereas Lacy has never beaten anyone and he is the smaller man .So i'd probably lean towards the Magic man Tarver

Lacy is a 168 pounder, he got the crap kicked out of him by Calzaghe, and he's got a major shoulder injury. As long as Antonio doesn't get poisoned, he can beat Lacy easy.

JC gave Lacy a boxing lesson. if tarver really wanted to be the peoples champ he challenge JC.

i like lacy. i never really thought he was that great but he fought often and he was entertaining. we knew he was one demensional.

I'll say it again, Tarver sucks. He's an idiot. I can just hear him talking in 3rd person about himself. "Antonio Tarver is the people's champ, and Antonio Tarver decides who gets a shot, and Antonio Tarver, blah blah blah." He needs to be choked by Brock Lesnar, and have his larinex crushed so we don't have to hear his mouth, ever. He wants a popular name, that has all the odds stacked against him. What a wuss. If this fight does happen, I'll puke, and then hope like hell Lacy catches his azz slippin, and knocks him the fwock out!

.....well Jeffrey is going to get a good shot to be "the savior" again....beating Tarver will make him a fan favorite again

Tarver isnt in a position to say he chooses ::** Dawson didnt get dominated in his last fight, Tarver is in no position to negotiate.

IMO, this is good news for BCD the more experience he can get before he faces anyone of the top guys the better hes off.

Wow, Tarver's confidence is clearly shaken. He's obviously scared to fight Chad Dawson. No one in the world thinks Tarver-Lacy is a better fight than Tarver-Dawson. And no one in the world thinks Tarver (the guy who got DESTROYED his last time out) is the "People's Champion."

Exactly , when is he gonna fight Lacy 2009? I havent heard of Lacy fighting anytime soon.
