Anyone Watch the Final Episode of the Sopranos??
If anyone did whats there take on the ending? I ask this because there has been allot of controversy about the end and allot of people thought it was complete shitte. I personally thought it was brilliant, but I can see where allot of people would be pissed off about the ending. Thoughts???
Re: Anyone Watch the Final Episode of the Sopranos??
Yeah I saw it and the way I see it is that the show from season 1 to the last episode it was supposed to be very "real life" in the way it told stories and that being the case there are very few times in real life where everything is all wrapped up in a nice little package, I feel that the ending was true to the series and it might not have been a crowd pleaser but I liked it.....I was happy Phil got capped......twice......and had his head smashed by a car

I couldn't agree more bro. I loved how the ending scene had the song Journey "Don't Stop Believing" it was kinda like the writer David Chase was telling us something with that song ya know, and I loved how in the last scene its like we (the audience) were looking through Toneys eyes. Like everytime the door to the restaurant would open and you hear the bells from the door you we see exactly who is coming in. I think the writer was trying to say that the life Tony lives he is always going to have to worry about his surounding because you never know when it will be your time to go or get wacked. I do agree I was really happy that old Phill got wacked. There has been allot of talk that there might be a movie but honestly I wouldn't be upset if there wasn't one, but the way the writer left it open you never know. But like I said I thought it was briliant

It's better to do something no one expects than to try an appease the brainless idiots out there who complain about endings like this.
Dallas (one of my favorite childhood programs) was very good about surprise endings....one season was all a dream sequence, so characters would be killed and then the next season oh it was all a dream they are all back....it was really shocking at the time.....as well as WHO SHOT JR? That was a big season ender too
Re: Anyone Watch the Final Episode of the Sopranos??
Its like the ole boxing saying.. "its the punch you don't see that gets yeah".. I think the bloke who walked into Men's room.. came out with a gun and capped Tony .. hence the long sustained darkness before the credits. Lights out baby !
Re: Anyone Watch the Final Episode of the Sopranos??
Never watched the show because i never found what would be so interesting about it since theres been a million mob based movies and shows already (that and my broke ass doesn't have digital cable). I swear i knew exactly what the series finale was just by watching every other tv channel. Woody paige did a spoof of it on ATH. Jon Stewert did a spoof of it when he was making fun of the congress not getting anything done. They talked about it on every major news outlet and on fucking sportscenter.
Here's an idea: Instead of showing some bullshit media thing here and there (paris hilton going to jail, the sopranos ending) How about some boxing coverage? The U.S. open is on a basic cable channel, the golf channel, usa, and espn1 in the later rounds. Why can't we get a boxing channel? Why are the only boxing matches on tv for espn 2 two times a week while you have an extended but not premium channel devoted solely to golf? Let them watch the golf channel if they wanna see the PGA tour leave it off of the rest of my limited extended basic cable options. "but tiger woods is the most phenomenal golfer ever" Don't care. If he was white i wouldn't care any more or less (less because i can't anymore than i do now). Golf's not a sport so how about you take the golf, poker, and fishing shows off espn and have some boxing matches on instead. >:mad

That could be exactly what happened thats why I think its brilliant the way it ended because, it kinda leaves it up to the audience to fill in the blanks.
The only thing I'm not sure if I agree with you though is when you said the long sustained darkness could simbolize death. I actually though in film and cinema that a white screen indicated death. I could be wrong but through I definately wasn't a film major. But all in all I do like your analogy "its like the punch you don't see that gets yeah" and the ending.

Cheers mate ! :beerchug: cc
a white screen for heavens gate would be a positive. . However lights out darkness for the Hell bound Tony Soprano? I enjoyed that show . very interesting twists and turns. the earlier seasons were the cream IMO
I remember seeing my first Episode a few years back where Chris and Paulie take this Russian in the woods (to off him) the two get lost in the woods , they lose the Russian and Paulie loses his shoes.. funny as hell that ..got me hooked. I ended up buying all the seasons to catch up.. fantastic show !

....well that would be a take off on Godfather....Michael Corleone meets with Captain McLusky and Sollozo...goes to the can comes out and shoots them both
But I though the same thing....I also thought the guy in the USA hat that was either a thug or an FBI agent
Re: Anyone Watch the Final Episode of the Sopranos??
Lyle and Wadeb 21, you guys are nuts. The ending was crap IMO. Great way to reward the fans who have been patient and watching the series since the beginning! ::** It was a cop out. A way to try and please everyone by letting them imagine their own ending. Thats gay. I wanted closure to the series, instead I got a Journey song and a fade to black ending. Stupid...
Re: Anyone Watch the Final Episode of the Sopranos??
I'd always thought Tony would end up going to jail for life at the end of the show... :dontknow:

I guess it just a matter of opinion brother. I have heard the same thing from allot of my friends that watch the show, they said they hated the ending. I mean I could see where people would be pissed. I think David Chase did that because now the ending is going to be debated for years man whenever the Sopranos topic comes up. Personally I thought it was cool, because it still leaves it open for a movie and its all about making the paper ya know. If there was a movie do you realize how much money it would make... I think it would make an insane amount of money. Even the people that didn't like the last episode would pay to go see it just becaue they would want to know what happens next.
I'll tell you what though man, when it just went to black and nothing happened I thought my damn cable went out or something lol I was like what the hell I know I paid the bill lol. Anyone else think the same thing?

well I think its a feel out, maybe they have a movie in the works or may want to start it off again a few years? a money maker like that needs to be let off gently... if HBO Original Series goes shit like its Boxing match making HBO will need the Sopranos again !
Re: Anyone Watch the Final Episode of the Sopranos??
Tony did not die here is my take
none of the guys in the bar killed TOny, noone had a reason to. New York had made peace with Jersey. So the one who died was US, we the audience, when the end came we did not hear a thing. It was the end for us.
Re: Anyone Watch the Final Episode of the Sopranos??
I would like to see a prequel. one with Johnny and Junior Soprano and Feech. that would be a good series.
