McCall stuns Samil Sam!


Former world champion and current WBC #4 heavyweight Oliver McCall upset hometown favorite and WBC #2 rated Sinan Samil Sam by unanimous decision on Saturday night in Ankara, Turkey. The 42-year-old McCall triumphed by scores of 115-112, 115-112, 114-113 to earn an eventual title shot once Oleg Maskaev, Samuel Peter and Vitali Klitschko sort the the WBC heavyweight picture. McCall claimed Sam's WBC International belt with the win.

Indeed i must see this fight to see if Oliver looked good i consider this to be a bit of an upset.

I've always like McCall, one tough son of a bitch...never put down in over 50 fights, only stopped because of excessive crying.

He has as good a shot as any now of being world champ again and once he's done with boxing he'll be a major force at the annual gurning championships

I was really surprised to see the result actually, as Turkey is not exactly the epitome of sporting fairness, and to see scores so close might suggest that McCall had been in the box seats, and the judges were looking to give Sam what they could. Either that, or the judges were fair.

I was hoping for McCall to win cause it took balls to go over there to Turkey to fight against a real contender in his backyard. Nice one old boy.
