Re: Definition of heart...
I think heart is the willingness to fight back no matter how much punishmnet you are taking. The desire to be hit, hurt and maimed in order to dish out your own assault in an attempt at glory.

You can bust me chops with power shots,
but thou shalt never see me crumble.
Till every pip that leaves me lips,
is but a senseless mumble.
This is heart.

I know most will say or have been saying that Zab showed a lot of heart against cotto..and that gatti has heart....
but imo i think that gatti showed heart when he broke his hand against ward and kept fighting to a victory..but didn't show "heart" against mayweather because it was just stupid to stand there and constantly absorb punishment...
also i think roy jones showed "heart" in the first tarver fight to fight through tremendous amount of fatigue to the victory...
basically i don't think a fighter shows "heart" when he's doing nothing but absorbing punishment..like zab did...I think a fighter has to over come a major set back during the fight and fight through it win or lose to keep fighting despite the setback is what exemplifies "heart" to me..not to just constantly show that you can absorb punishment...
what do you guys think?
I agree with you. Generally whenever someone mentions a person having heart it means they have getting a beating, not just in boxing but in life. Little child has cancer then they have tremendous courage, person gets paralysed in a horrific accident then they are tremendously brave etc.
Having to display heart means you are a loser.
A winner on the other hand seldom gets anyone talking about their heart which is unfair.
To me Cotto had more heart than Zab. Zab just got beat up, thats it. If he had heart (and balls) he wouldn't have gone down 3 times in the fight. He wouldn't have looked for a way out against Floyd etc.

Re: Definition of heart...
my def of heart is to show pride to your family
never to show fear always to be loyal
Re: Definition of heart...
Corrales showed heart against Castillo in their 1st bout that made him earned 2005 RingMag FOTY.
Arce vs Hussein
Barrera vs McKinney
Barrera vs Morales vice versa
Re: Definition of heart...
As much as I dislike him, Paulie Malignaggi showed tremendous heart against Cotto. To me, heart is never quitting no matter how badly things are going for you, and fighting back no matter how badly you are being beaten or outclassed. It's an overriding belief and desire to win, no matter the odds and the actions one takes towards that goal, regardless of the circumstances.

Exactly.
I used to dislike Judah, but I was really impressed with his performance against Cotto. He proved that he is a TRUE, BLOOD AND GUTS WARRIOR and can go toe to toe with the top dogs.
I fwocking hate his dad though. >:mad
