Congratulations to my man Alex Arthur
I knew he had a world title in him. Goga was a tough opponent to look good against, but he ground it out. It's a bit of a relief to see a Scot doing the business after the disappointment of Scott Harrison. Hopefully Warren can put together a fight with one of the big names and hold it at Edinburgh Castle.
Ideally Enzo will do the business later, too.

Yes well done Alex, but i dont really think he is World Class, and it's only the Interim title, i think if hes matched with a world class boxer he gets beat.

Job well done for Arthur the future looks good and I like his style of fighting. Really good matchups for him lye ahead. :)

It's effectively the world title. Guzman won't be fighting again at that weight. I think if you have a world title you're world class. As in, you've made the step up from international class. We shall just have to wait and see how Alex fares against the top guys. Certainly I think he can hold his own. Whether he can win, I don't know. No one would have looked good against his opponent tonight, though. The guy was a spoiler.
Re: Congratulations to my man Alex Arthur
Got in there first Skel, I was about to mention its only an interim belt, but fair play to Arthur he did the business after what appears to have been a slow start, and claimed the interim title. I like Alex Arthur and think he's done well for himself, and I look forward to watching it on Sky+ tomorrow night!
Re: Congratulations to my man Alex Arthur
I'm aware that it's technically the interim title, but for all intents and purposes it's the world title, as Guzman is almost certain to not fight at the weight again.

Ok it looks as if he will be the WBO Champion, but i dont make my judgement on boxers being world class by which Alphabet Title they have, but the guy was awkward and congratulations to Alex, but for me personally i feel he needs to fight better level of compitition before you can brand him World Class just my opinion.

Hopefully Warren can make the fights. Would be nice to get an easy defence in first, assuming Guzman moves up, and then get a big name. No one expects Arthur to be able to live with someone like Pacquiao, but if he gives a good account of himself I'd be happy.

I expect Warren will give him a run-out in a fairly straightforward defence first, but I think the next step might be a fight with the IBF champ Mzonke Fana, if it can be made. Basically, I reckon that's the champion most likely not to demolish Arthur.

Would be nice to see a few more British fighters in there with some of the big names. Shame Harrison cocked up his chance. British fighters with the talent to go all the way are few and far between.

Mate, the British have defenitely got the talent they just ain't taking the right fights and they are wasting too much time taking fights they shouldn't be taking.

Well, that might be in some cases, but look at what happened with Nicky Cook. When he made the step up from European level to world level, he faced what can only be described as a decent American (from comments American fans have made regarding Luevano) and he got comprehensively outclassed.

I've been out of touch for a while now. Lost my mod status here about 6 months ago due to inactivity, so I've kept only a passing interest. Who are the up and comers? If the British fighters are taking the wrong fights, I can only imagine it's because the promoters don't have the faith in them and want to squeeze every last penny out of them.
Re: Congratulations to my man Alex Arthur
I was at the show yesterday to watch this and I am sure Michael Gomez was in the crowd. I would not be surprised to see that fight next or down the line. i am sure Gomez would come back for that.
