De La Hoya: "I Want To Fight Twice in 2008"
Just read this.
"I would like to fight twice next year, in May and September, opponents to be decided," De La Hoya said.
Oscar's plan still appears to be a return to the welterweight limit of 147-pounds, currently the richest division in boxing.
He said the front runner to fight him would be the winner of the Mayweather Hatton fight..... ::**
Re: De La Hoya: "I Want To Fight Twice in 2008"
i don't see why not, he gave Mayweather a fight worthy of getting a rematch, and also i think he'd beat Hatton, so both fights seem ok
Re: De La Hoya: "I Want To Fight Twice in 2008"
He's gonna be called the evander holyfield of welterweights pretty soon.

Oscar don't deserve to fight winner of Mayweather vs Hatton just look at his record in past 4 years 2 wins and 3 losses i would like winner of Hatton vs Mayweather to fight winner of Cotto vs Mosley.

Thats everyones take on it. The winner of that match has some major bragging rights.
Re: De La Hoya: "I Want To Fight Twice in 2008"
Oh please. Oscar doesnt deserve anything. The only fighter he has beaten in years is Mayorga.
Re: De La Hoya: "I Want To Fight Twice in 2008"
I'd like to see Oscar fight Vernon Forrest at 154.
as for 147..............
I think Mayweather would win in a more decisive fashion the 2nd time around.
Oscar would knock Cotto out.
Oscar would knock Margarito out real bad.
Paul Williams would earn a decision.
Cintron would lose a unanimous decision.
If Zab Judah had a couple tune ups first, he'd beat Oscar.
That's how I see things for Oscar at 147

So let me get this straight Cotto would get knocked out by Oscar but Judah would beat Oscar are you kidding me ??
Re: De La Hoya: "I Want To Fight Twice in 2008"
I really don't think he could hang in the 147 division with his current condition. He's best just collecting paydays while he still can against known walkthroughs and then just retiring.

Stop fooling yourself and being so over protective just because Floyd beat Oscar and you think want to believe Oscar is still at his best. He's not. End of. He's a part time fighter. If that. His recent record has been poor. Your predictions there look awful. ;D

EXACTLY.CC.
We need to see these young lions go at it. The winner of those fights should fight each other. Oscar should have to work to get another chance just like everyone else.
Re: De La Hoya: "I Want To Fight Twice in 2008"
Oscar can do as he pleases, it's always gonna be a big fight if he's involved, he's like David Beckham in the states, half the people who tune in to a de la hoya fight aren't even boxing fans.

Margarito might have lost, But how does that say either one of two things?
To me it doesnt say margarito has a terrible chin..He doesnt
And that oscar could have the power he once had at welter weight..Which he doesnt, and whats to say that would knock out margarito anyway..
Just my opinion
Re: De La Hoya: "I Want To Fight Twice in 2008"
CC, back fella! ;D
He may have given Floyd a tough fight but that was Oscar fighting a fighter who will probably never fight at 154 again. I find it hard to imagine Oscar making waves at his age at welterweight. Seriously.

Judah gets beat by Baldomir, and gets a fight with Mayweather right after, looses that fight horribly and then gets suspended, doesn't win his comeback fight (it's a NC), and get a WBA welterweight fight against Cotto which he also looses horribly, and then is suposingly gonna get a fight with Margarito? also B-Hop lost 2 back to back against Taylor (although i thought he won the rematch and the first was a draw) and gets a crack at then lightheavyweight champion Antonio Tarver, so whats the prob about De La Hoya getting a shot at the winner, when none of his losses have been lopsided?

Judah was pimping Cotto real bad until Cotto went on a low blow and elbows frenzy.
