90s vs 2000s WW Round 1 Felix Trinidad vs Antonio Margarito
In 1999 Felix Trinidad left the Welterweight division with a great record of 36-0 (30KOs). He carried with him the WBC, IBF and linear Welterweight Titles. His 15 defences of a Welterweight title are second only to Henry Armstrong and is the longest reigning Welterweight title holder in the history of the division. Pound 4 Pound one of the greatest punchers of his era.
Antonio Margarito was the WBO Welterweight champion. He had defended his title a total of 7 times in a time when no other Welterweight champion has had more than 2 defences. He currently holds a record of 34-5 (25KOs). A strong, tough fighter of the proud Mexican heritage.

Margarito knocks Tito down early, then Tito comes back and KO's him on a left hook in the middle rounds.
Re: 90s vs 2000s WW Round 1 Felix Trinidad vs Antonio Margarito
Paul Williams hit Margarito at will. If that was Trinidad landing those punches, Margarito gets knocked out with a sweet left hook from Tito!
Re: 90s vs 2000s WW Round 1 Felix Trinidad vs Antonio Margarito
Felix Trinidad is better than Margarito in all departments except Margarito has stronger chin but that wouldn't matter because Margarito is too slow and throws his punches wide Trinidad might get floored early but other than that he would dominate Margarito and win by tko.

Rookie fan, you took my Idea. I had a huge 28 man tournament ready to post with the best welterweights in the past 25 years. Including Duran, Leonard, Benitez, Cuevas, Tzsyu, Prior, Arguello, Norris, Taylor and more. It was going to be da bomb. You beat me to it so thumbs up. I'll support your polls. Tito wins this one.

That would've been great. Sorry about that Eli. Maybe we can have the winners of this tournament face off against the 80s.

i cant believe you are comparing tito to margo. ok. i understand that margo has a superb win against cotto but, c'mon man, tito is a legend while margo wasnt even top ten in the p4p ranking!

you are underrating titos defense. i dont see him getting hit flushed by a slow flatfooted guy like margo.
Re: 90s vs 2000s WW Round 1 Felix Trinidad vs Antonio Margarito
Tito was down early many times even against slower fighters but he always got back up. Tito wins but I think he will settle for a points decision once Marg takes the bombs and smiles at him. :)

Ok Margo can take a great shot BUT he's never been punched off anyone who can hit like Tito could. In fact I don't know many welters who could hit like that other than Hearns. Cintron can bang but certainly not like them two. I'd go for a mid to late stoppage for Tito because simply Tonys style is take 2 to land 1 if thats what it takes and with Tito anyone in the history of the WW division could be KO'd.

No problem bro
Re: 90s vs 2000s WW Round 1 Felix Trinidad vs Antonio Margarito
Tito's chin held up well against big/strong welters like Oscar and Vargas, I don't think he will have trouble against Margarito. Aside from the fact that Tito himslef is a tall welter and won't have any problem with LEVERAGE when landing his power shots.
Tito has problems with slick boxers and Margarito isnt one.
