Why I hate Larry Merchant
This is an episode of my show(the newest) You'd find it in my show topic.
Youtube messed up with uploading again(so the sounds a little behind)
But I thought this was something important I would share with the forum because I feel like I can express myself to ya'll.
I didn't do the intro song. The following is very heartfelt and I was very sad when I said this but I kept it together.
Thanks

Yeah bit I actually said why in this video and I didn't go crazy. I was actually very sad while saying this(thoughts of the dead boxers and such) but I kept it together this time.
Re: Why I hate Larry Merchant
That's a good vid. Majesty, I agree completely with what you said about Larry Merchant's bloodlust. It always seems that the most critical voices come from those who have never fought.
Re: Why I hate Larry Merchant
Well said man, you get a CC from me. Agreed with everything you said.
Re: Why I hate Larry Merchant
I know you have mentioned it in every video but I gotta give you a big CC for that video. You made some great points. I agree completely with everything you said but why does a part of me like Larry Merchant? I dunno wether it's because he makes me laugh..or because he's been the voice of boxing so long? I think I laugh at him more than anything and how he always clashes with Jim, Harold and the guest commentator.
You're right about the sport and art of boxing though. People piss me off for getting on the case of defensive fighters also. They can win every round and still be criticised for not trading. I too do not see these people as true boxing fans. Sure you can have a preferred style but if you can't appreciate the fighters that are masters of their craft then you need to reconsider wether you truly do love boxing. Or wether you need to watch something else that will satisfy your thirst for blood EVERY time.
Nice one Majesty, keep the vids coming. You're almost making me want to do a video :)

CC # 398 Majesty .
I can appreciate you thoughts, .. You bring up some good points no question.. However don’t think for a moment there is not art and technique involved in aggressively perusing your opponent. Your greatly miss guided on that assumption, trust me.
all great boxers Sugar Ray Leonard , Pete Whitaker ext they had the mindset to win. utilizing their technical abilities in an offensive manner, while defense played a role it was not the complete focal point . another words they had determination factor, they had desire to win , when the opportunity presented itself they closed the show..
Chris Byrd is a very nice man, you won‘t meet a nicer person however he does not have that spark to capture the imagination of the fight fan.
Byrd uses an open palms stance , its shit. vs. David Tua for example. Byrd left his right arm fully extended most of the time, which is against the rules of boxing, and while I like Jay Nady a great deal, he snuffed on that, Jay should have been warning Byrd for doing that continuously and take a point a way. Chris was trying to guide Tua’s direction with that extended right hand. , a great boxer would not have had to resort to those tactics in a match ,
I felt Tua won the match . However that’s another story.
As for Larry Merchant. I think he is spot on most of the time. He calls it as he see’s fit. Merchant has been involved in boxing for many years and has sound knowledge of the sport, make no mistake. Anyway.
Enjoyed listening to your thoughts on the subject., keep up the good work. - God bless
Re: Why I hate Larry Merchant
Could this be the reason why you're picking MAB over Pac? ;D...

Re: Why I hate Larry Merchant
thanks to everyone so far who's commented you've all been clicked. And anyone else who comments on the vid with their opinions will be clicked too
Re: Why I hate Larry Merchant
Can't watch it on this computer. Will try to catch it later on.
Have to say though I knew it was something about Chris Byrd when I saw the title of the thread. ;D
Re: Why I hate Larry Merchant
Nice vid Maj,I enjoy listening to your thoughts. You make lots of valid points but 1 thing: boxing is not anything specific. Boxing can be whatever the individual makes it.
If Merchant wants to see it as a war between 2 fighters, and he thinks its about blood, sweat and tears, then it can be for him. I do agree,he can be over critical and OTT at times but still, he's entitled to interpret boxing as he sees fit.It is disappointing at times, for example Spnks v Taylor,he was complaining Spinks was running and that was silly but hey,his opinion.
I've seen some fighters even see it the way he does,I'm pretty sure in an interview a from a while back,Andre Berto mentioned there was too much dancing around and that boxing should go back to it's roots, gladiator style, giving the crowd ko's etc to cheer about. Just an example, boxing can be what the individual makes it.
Re: Why I hate Larry Merchant
If they took away larry merchant, i'd have nobody to be pissed off at.

Yeah I know I agree on its whatever an individual makes it. But Merchants comments are like thats what boxing should be to everyone, know what I mean? And thats wrong.
Re: Why I hate Larry Merchant
Yeah,I see where you are coming from Maj but remember,Merchant has been a boxing fan and commentator longer than most of us have been alive. He sees the threats to boxings popularity such as MMA so maybe thats why he starts a war cry about fights? Remember,he has'nt always been like that. Watch Mayweather v Castillo 1,he enjoyed that fight, which was definitely more of a boxing match than a brawl. That's just one example.
