The detail that most people are missing with the Knockdown..
Taylor got Pavliks attention with a clean shot, slow motion showed that Pavlik put his hands down, stuck out his chin and made a mocking face out of Bravado at Taylor.. Taylor just obliged him and caught him with his guard down when Kelly wasnt braced for the punch and that started the Knockdown sequence...
Kelly brought it on himself and almost lost his opportunity... Kelly has an Helacious good chin, most fighters wouldnt have been able to continue... Not to mention he took the best Edison Miranda had to offer and never waivered and Miranda is considered PFP one of the best punchers and certainly has more power than Taylor

I noticed that aswell the main reason Pavlik got caught because he was taunting Taylor i was impressed with Pavlik's defence except for the 2nd round of course i agree aswell with your other statement i don't think Pavlik has suspect chin Miranda hit Pavlik with very hard right hands and couldn't even move Pavlik and them punches Taylor caught Pavlik with would of stopped most Middleweight's.

I dont care what anyone thinks...Pavlik was hurt. You could see it in his eyes when he was in the corner, he did good to hold on and get through that round. I dont think he will be doing that stupid shit anytime soon...look what it got Mayorga...KTFO.

You're hopefully right - clowning is always dangerous, and I think he learned something there, for sure! I thought he was in the "shaking it off" process in the corner after the round, though. He got a pat on the head, gave assurances that he was OK, then went out and won the next round (IMO). I don't think he was hurt seriously - just enough to rattle his cage and get him back on track.
Re: The detail that most people are missing with the Knockdown..
He was more in trouble with his legs going spaghetti on him, he flopped around holding on for dear life. His head was clear by the end of the round if you asked me. If Taylor was more patient with his shots, he could have definately ended it in that round. Some refs see you flopping around like that and will stop it real quick when your taking shots.

Very true! That's one thing I like about Smoger - he'll give you the benefit of the doubt, even though he stepped in as soon as Taylor went down. I was pretty concerned about Taylor, actually - that last shot looked like it made him go limp :(
...and no comments from the peanut gallery ;)
Re: The detail that most people are missing with the Knockdown..
I did notice him smiling a bit and talking after getting hit even after that but not as blatantly and didn't completely leave himself open. Still might need to chill out a bit.
I think he has a good chin but its not one of those rock solid chins, not a liability though. Showed a good ability to recover quickly.
Re: The detail that most people are missing with the Knockdown..
If I remember it correctly, I think he stuck his chin and tongue out at Taylor in the 5th or 6th round also. :lickish:
I am hoping I am wrong on this. Can anyone confirm?

I dunno mate, i think he got more than his attention with a couple of shots, he looked a bit hurt, but yeah you are right about him trying to clown on taylor and getting smacked for it, + it was more at on the temple than chin, just screwed with his equwalibrium(Sp) for a bit as well as hurting him..
I laughed to my self when i see the thread about pavlik having a suspect chin, didn't even bother opening it 'coz its such bullshit, he took mirandas best and only looked to be a lil shook up about once or twice form killer blows.

Those punches couldn't even put Ouma down though.

thats true, but i think Ouma has tremendous HEART especially considering his upbringing and all
Re: The detail that most people are missing with the Knockdown..
I think part of the reason Pavlik survived and Taylor didn't was that Pavlik held on when he could. Taylor did not.
Re: The detail that most people are missing with the Knockdown..
I don't know that Taylor could've held on, but if he hadn't been caught in the corner he probably would've gone down before taking as much punishment as he did. Then he might have had a chance to recover, for the moment at least. Being out on his feet, unable to defend himself, and held up by the corner, Smoger had no choice but to step in.
Pavlik was in the middle of the ring were he could go down if he got hurt again, so Smoger was able to give him a chance make it though. I think if Taylor had been a little more patient, and taken a step back at one key moment, he could've at least put him down again.
I'm gonna tape this fight for a friend, so I'll get to watch it again...

That 2nd right along the ropes had Jermain OUT on his feet.I dont think he was getting up with a twenty count.
Re: The detail that most people are missing with the Knockdown..
in the second round when Taylor had Pavlik hurt, I don't think Pavlik was taunting him. On the replay, the punch thrown by Taylor before Pavlik made the facial reaction was an elbow and Pavlik was more telling him "what the hell was that?!" than taunting him. And cause of his mid-flurry reaction, Taylor rocked him with shots.
