WBHF Fight of the Year
The accolades continue for WBC Super Bantamweight champion Israel "Magnifico" Vazquez after his two thrilling wars against Rafael Marquez. The World Boxing Hall of Fame has announced that they'll be awarding Vazquez vs. Marquez with "fight of the year" honors at their induction ceremony to be held at the Doubletree Hotel in Ontario, California on Saturday. "I feel thrilled," said Vazquez when he heard the news. "To get such recognition is unbelievable." This is the second time for Vazquez. He also received the distinction in 2006 after his KO win over Jhonny Gonzalez. Vazquez's manager, Frank Espinoza, will be awarded "manager of the year" honors. Espinoza was recently inducted into the California Boxing Hall of Fame. Vazquez and Espinoza received the news at the press conference held at The Santa Ana Winery to announce the inductions of Ricardo "Finito" Lopez, Larry Holmes, Gerald McClellan, Alvaro "Yaqui" Lopez, George Benton, Joe Cortez, Steve Albert and Efren Torres.

How can you hand out a Fight of the Year award when there's still 3 months left in the year?

Here's his website http://aldenboxing.com/
I think he'll be there ;)
He could be a little rival to you though so be careful. I can see you both trying to outrun the other to try and get to your favourite fighters for your all important photoshoots :P
Re: Vazquez-Marquez II honored Fight of the Year
I think Marquez-Vazquez 1 was better

Especially with the Diaz's fight and the Mosley v Cotto fight. Not to mention the Calzaghe v Kessler fight too. I'd like to say the Floyd Mayweather jr v Hatton fight but i think Floyd will stick to his hit and run tactics unless Hatton can force him into a war like Duran did with Leonard the first time round.

So will fights like Cotto-Mosley be eligible for next year's award?

:coolclick: Agreed. Just cut of the tape again about 5 minutes ago. My wife goes ape shit every time I watch the fight...she's seen it about 3 times in the last 24 hours. Pavlik's the shit in my book. I had picked him by late stoppage or a hard fought decision during the fight...had no clue he'd actually blast Taylor out like that.
Taylor's got a pretty sturdy chin...so that's gotta mean Pavlik can crack. Look at what he did against Miranda also. The shots he took & then the accuracey that he returned with...pretty crazy.

:coolclick: Agreed. Just cut of the tape again about 5 minutes ago. My wife goes ape S*** every time I watch the fight...she's seen it about 3 times in the last 24 hours. Pavlik's the S*** in my book. I had picked him by late stoppage or a hard fought decision during the fight...had no clue he'd actually blast Taylor out like that.

:coolclick: back Wacko i must have watched Taylor vs Pavlik about 20 times and the ending about 40 times one of the best Middleweight Title fights in ages there hasn't been exciting Middleweight fights in ages because there hasn't been any exciting World Champions at Middleweight so thats another reason im glad Pavlik won so we can finally see some exciting fights at Middleweight and i also picked Pavlik by TKO late i wasn't expecting Pavlik to stop Taylor as early as that i thought Pavlik would win in the 10th round.
And as for Pavlik i been a fan of his for awhile i really like Pavlik one of my favorite fighters at the moment the way he dismantled Miranda was damn impressive and what was even more impressive is that Miranda hit Pavlik flush and Pavlik walked right through Miranda's shot and gave him one sided beating and Miranda is tough guy so Pavlik must hit damn hard to drop him that many times and stop him and as for Taylor's chin well i was never quite sure of Taylor's chin i never see a hard hitter hit Taylor flush i know Hopkins hit Taylor flush but Hopkins is type of fighter that wears you down with accumulation of punches and Hopkins didn't put enough hurt on Taylor early and Wright, Ouma, Spinks, are not hard hitters by any means but when i watched Pavlik fight my opinion changed Taylor showed he had good chin the amount of punches he took in 7th and how long he stayed up was damn impressive Taylor only went down when basically his body couldn't take no more i would love to see a rematch i am not writing Taylor off either i see his early fights and he has all the tools to be great fighter but he has some problems like nervous energy he burns himself out too quick and he needs to learn to control himself but no doubt Taylor has all the tools to be a great fighter and if he gets Burns back then bring on Taylor vs Pavlik 2.
