Miranda - Pascal in the works?
On both Boxingtalk.com and Fightnews.com there are stories about Jean Pascal calling out Miranda, following him around and talking shit at him - presumably he's trying to get Miranda to fight him. Apparently they almost got into it when they were both spectators at a match down in Puerto Rico.
I think Pascal is too green and suffers from too many defensive lapses to do well against Miranda, he seems to think he's the 2nd coming of RJJ or something from the fights I've seen.
As long as Miranda has carried his power up to 168 I think he can KO Pascal.
Re: Miranda - Pascal in the works?
Pascal is green and does have defensive lapses and I think he is too green for Miranda right now, have to credit him for stepping up though

For sure. Pascal is the BEST RJJ wannabee out there. But is that good enuff to beat Miranda?
Re: Miranda - Pascal in the works?
I just finished watching Mirandas last fight.
He looked improved. I like that he was using his jab, I also saw he wasn't going for the KO early on rather he threw shots up stairs and down stairs. Porras was up for the fight but Miranda is just that much better.

Miranda is a bad ass, that's for sure. I like him and Pascal a lot. Don't know who I'd root for in that one. I'd like to see Pascal take on another good fighter, maybe a contender season two guy, then fight either Miranda or Green. Pascal is extremely fast and usually wins every round against his opponents. You know that if he keeps winning, eventually him and fellow countryman, Lucian Bute will have to have a showdown.
Re: Miranda - Pascal in the works?
If Miranda doesn't knock him out. He doesn't win. Pascal has the skills to out box Miranda

Same was said about Alan Green.
Re: Miranda - Pascal in the works?
I agree Mick,Pantera looked really patient v Porras, worked his jab and was trying new things which was good to see. He also worked the body well. I'd still like to see more variation in his punches but Edison is an exciting fighter to watch. I'd like to see this fight but I'm not sold on Miranda at 168 just yet. Want to see his chin checked first against these bigger punchers.
Re: Miranda - Pascal in the works?
Miranda needs to learn how to defend himself before he can be a legit force at any weight.
Throwing an assload of power punches is all well & good...but when you leave yourself open to counters & your chin doesn't check out...what use is it to consider yourself in the game.
Pavlik checked his chin & he buckled.
He's had other danger spots in previous bouts...Abraham & Green both rattled him.
I just don't see him lasting long without a defense.
Re: Miranda - Pascal in the works?
I don't see how he's going to have a better time at 168 but he's still a fairly dangerous guy to the non-elite
Thought he was supposed to be fighting Andre Ward at some point
Re: Miranda - Pascal in the works?
It will be a fun fight to watch, and hpefully if it happens the winner will fight Kessler. Though like Ouma says, don't know why he's going to be better at 168, unless he truly had weight issues at 160. Still he's not a great boxer, and may just end up a gatekeeper at 168.

Did you see his fight against Porras? He seemed to have been working on that defense nicely. Maybe it is tough to tell against a guy like Porras, but he impressed me.
Re: Miranda - Pascal in the works?
Miranda is supposed to be fighting Andre Ward next year but Pascal seems intent on making a fight with Miranda. Also,Mayorga was bad mouthing Minrada too?! WTF is up with everyone after Edison? I think he's a danger to everyone he fights with his power,as long as he has carried it with him. I agree Pantera,he showed some good shoulder rolls v Porras.

I think he ahd SERIOUS weight issues....he weighed in at 169.4 or something for this fight?! Thats above SMW! What would happen if he overweighed again for another big fight?!

Seems like alot of guys want Miranda after Pavlik destroyed him. He was sure talking big about wiping the floor with Kelly and talking smack about beating the shoes off Taylor, so maybe some guys think his bark is bigger than his bite and want to test it. Nobody seemed to be calling him out before Pavlik sparked him out, but now everyone wants him.

Yeah, thats probably true. I'd like to see him KTFO Pascal though! Man,do you realise we could actually see Taylor v Miranda at 168!
