1st and foremost I gotta applaud PBF for his fucken brilliant performace. :appl:
If he could just shut his mouth and fight more often like last night he'd be more liked and applauded.
But anyway... What a fight that was....
I was thinking last night as the fight was on,
How in the world is PBF a better inside fighter then Hatton? ???
WTF? I could not believe my eyes last night. PBF was the one mugging and beating Hatton on the inside. This shit reminded of the way Cotto & SSM switched roles with Cotto outboxing SSM....
Now posters here wanna blame Cortez :beat: please! this was a difficult fight to ref I think Cortez was a bit too aggressive early on but then calmed down later in the fight. For those who keep finding excuses stop it cause there arent any.
After last nights performance I gotta say I am FULLY convinced that no one can beat PBF. I am by far the biggest Cotto fan here back in 2005 when ROCKYMARSHMELLOW, JamesFatToney & some other posters here were bashing Cotto. I told all of them that Cotto was the future that within some fights he'd prove that he was someone to beat. Well guess what I don't think Cotto stands a chance against PBF.

Not Margarito
Not Williams
Not Cintron
Not Forrest
Not Spinks
Not no one.....
I am alos fully convinced that PBF is withouth a doubt the BEST FIGHTER this era has produced and his skills in the ring are fucken mind blowing. The way in which he has evolved throught the years the way in which he can adapt to any style that any fighter presents. The way PBF caught Hatton with the left hook early in the fight was IMO an early indication of things to come. I turned to my friend and said if Hatton keeps jumping in like that hes gonna get caught with a right hand... Well to my and everyones surprise it was a left hook that did the job. I don't see anyone beting PBF unless PBF has the worst night of his life in the ring. I'd also like to say that last nights win IMO catapults PBF in the all time ranks & all time P4P rankings.
I think I had PBF somewhere around 20 I'm not too sure but this win surely gives him a few steps up towards #1.
IF PBF decides to continue fighting and IF PBF does face any of these opponents and wins he IMO will most defintely jump to somewhere in the top 10 all time list. In no particular order: Cotto, Williams, Cintron or Forrest.
Now I understand not all of them are big names but they are considered as some of the best today and IF PBF can defeat one maybe two of them that IMO will further more advance him in the all time rankings.
To the Hatton fans...Chin up man.. Your boy did 'ya proud. He chased the champion he went after the man got his shot at him. Theres no shame in loosing to the best in the world. Hatton needs to solidify himself at 140 as one of the best ever he is now but he needs some of the other names on his resume. Witter, Maliganggi, Torres IMO Hatton should go back out there and just take 140 by storm if he wants to cement his legacy.
Also I'd like to point out that this picture here below is a scan of something that has become one of my most prized posessions.

CC Mick, good post. Though I think Cortez was a bit jumpy in the 1st rounds, I have said it wouldn't have mattered in the end. Where was Joe in the Hopkins/Wright fight? ;D As for Hatton, he did what he could, and that's that. He is a game little guy, but took a few too many punches. I knew he'd get knocked out, just thought it would happen sooner. I do think and would like to see Williams fight Floyd, as it would be intriguing to see how Floyd dealt with the freaky frame and high output of Williams; but Floyd always finds a way to win, so I don't think I'll ever bet against him. I know I didn't last night!!

Williams could possibly win some early rounds impressively but IMO would fall short late in the fight.
Cotto as much as I like the kid and his currently of the new class my favourite of them all I just don't think he's skilled enough to beat PBF. Like I said I can't see anyone beating PBF in this era of boxers.

You can assume but I believe Cotto and Williams would really hurt Floyd the pressure they apply, volume of punches, and power of their punches would be far more than Hatton applied.
Ricky did as good as he could but his size was against him and his stamina caught up with him too

Again I can def. see Williams wining some early rounds convincingly but in the end like you I think PBFs crafty skills will help him figure out Williams and he'd rack up yet another impressive win.

There might be no one out there can beat Floyd right now. But like all fighters, Floyd will eventually lose at some point. All fighters lose to father time at some point. 2-3 years from now, Floyd will have lost a step, and some younger stronger fighter will beat him.
But right now he is the best fighter in the world by a considerable margin, and it's been that way for several years.

I was a massive Naz fan and when ever the Naz vs PBF subject came up i did'nt want him to fight PBF he would have been to slick even for Naz.God he is great but he should retire on top 39-0 25 KO's 5 weight world champs all against the weights number 1's and 6 time world champ from superfeather to lightmiddle very impressive and only 5ft 8 inch.

Cotto squeaked out a victory against Mosley, I find it funny how people see that as somehow translating to him hurting Floyd badly, let alone for a single solitary moment. I think people need to start realizing that stamina is not something that can simply be attained with hard training, it's like skill, some people simply have more of it than others, and Floyd has both more skill AND stamina than any boxer in the world. He is arguably the best conditioned athlete on the planet. And people also need to stop acting as if Hatton hit like a featherweight. No one, not Hatton, Mayweather, Cotto, or Williams, possesses one punch knock out power. This notion that Cotto will somehow devastate Mayweather is mildly hysterical.

Well I criticize it from day one when I heard that the fight will take place at 147 instead at 140 but that's Hatton's fault for accepting that. Why in GODS GREEN EARTH if you are fighting at 154 and then challenge the top guy at 140 to fight at 147 knowing he did not did so good in his last visit at that weight.
Hey I like Ricky 5'6" he along Cotto 5'8.5" and Tito 5'11" among others are in my boxing dictionary right beside the word heart.
Hey Floyd 5'9" has mad skill but I can't call him the best WW while he is no fighting the best at WW.

Well if you think Cotto having a close fight with Mosley means Mayweather Jr. would toy with him then your thoughts are just as hysterical as those who thin Cotto will KO him in 1.
All I know is Miguel beats anyone put infront of him and whenever he's hurt he fires back with harder shots and he does have a decent chin, he's been caught with some huge punches and he's come back and won.
Paul Williams is just a freak, 100+ punches a round, left handed, and he's 6'1 and he can take a shot too.
Floyd is a great fighter there is no arguing that but he hasn't beaten the best in this division yet, he hasn't even come close.....he's beaten some good fighters but if he beat Cotto and Williams then I would be forced to pair him with Leonard, Robinson, Hearns, and Duran

I dont think it was a brilliant performance at all. He has looked much better in the past imo. He was throwing one punch at a time for the first 8 rounds and when he started to hurt Hatton only then did he start putting punches toghether. Yes he did fight well on the inside but he also fought very dirty. Good win but not a great performance compared to some of his past fights. He looked very vulnerable last night imo.
