Calzaghe - Hopkins talk now of Las vegas, not NYC Yankee Stadium ?
I see the latest reports and rumours have this now labelled as a Las Vegas fight.
Disappointed in this as was looking forward to a NY City trip next year ;)
Not sure how many would travel to watch Joe - as he's never done it ;D - but then again am not sure how many bums Hopkins could realistically put on seats. Anyone any thoughts ??
Then again - I think for starters we need the fight to be made first ;)

They would never have filled Yankee Stadium. Las Vegas is a good call IMO, it would sell out even without the british contingent if ir's marketed correctly.

There's way too much specualation about this fight.
The longer details are hammered out without anything being made official, the more likely there will be a collapse of negotiations.

Both camps are notorious for bieng bad at negotiations..At least for lack of a better word..
Maybe awkward is better..
But its a great fight if it gets made.. Howver..Its another one of these fights where i love to see the winner but i dont want to see a looser..
But imo Bernard takes it

Totally the same here Tito.
Apart from the last line.
Joe isn't aggresive he likes to lay back, so does Hopkins.
Hopkins will be made to look awkward coming forward and be countered with volume by Joe.
So It's a UD for Cal for me.
Re: Calzaghe - Hopkins talk now of Las vegas, not NYC Yankee Stadium ?
This fight has more chance of being in Wales than Yankee Stadium. After Hatton's fans came in such numbers and spent so much money in Vegas at least one casino will now probably put up enough money to make it a more attractive proposition than the Millenium Stadium. A couple of weeks ago I was thinking Wales, now I'm thinking Vegas.
Re: Calzaghe - Hopkins talk now of Las vegas, not NYC Yankee Stadium ?
I don't think as many will follow Joe, although I'd be happy to be proved wrong.
Re: Calzaghe - Hopkins talk now of Las vegas, not NYC Yankee Stadium ?
i feel it would be hard to sell out yankee stadium.................... b-hop's 43 and has a style which most neutral's dont like and joes unkown unless your a die hard like some of us so a vegas venue seems a good idea to me
Re: Calzaghe - Hopkins talk now of Las vegas, not NYC Yankee Stadium ?
On Boxrec they have it listed for the 13th April at the Yankee Stadium ???
Re: Calzaghe - Hopkins talk now of Las vegas, not NYC Yankee Stadium ?
The only reason that they have these big fights in Vegas are because promoters like Golden Boy and Top Rank get a LOT of extra money from the casinos because the big fights bring in all the celebrities/high rollers to come out and gamble and lose their money that entire weekend. Do you think that Mayweather-ODLH couldn't have packed 40,000-50,000 strong in Dodger Stadium? Or that Mayweather-Hatton couldn't have been held at Staples Center or something bigger than MGM Grand. I absolutely hate it when I hear the bullshit that comes out of promoters mouths when the question of bigger stadiums in cities other than Vegas comes up. The reason why these huge fights aren't held in bigger stadiums in other cities is mainly because of promoter's greed.

It would be awesome to see a fight taking place at the historic Yankee Stadium but B-Hop isn't popular enough to make that fight happen at Yankee Stadium, it will be in Vegas or in the UK. B-Hop is funny, he really thinks he is a draw but then again he did do over 300,000 against Winky. That's more than Cotto-Judah and everyone knew that was gonna be a barnburner going into the fight.

Whilst I am in agreement with you, look at the other side of the coin.
Would you have prefered to go without May the 5th and December 8th?
Because you would have had those fights not been in a Vegas Casino.
Elite fighter demand huge amounts of money to meet each other in the ring. Often they demand more than the attendance can cover, so they only way they can cover the wages of the fighters is by jacking up the costs of Pay per view and receiving finance from the casino's.
I too have bee very disgruntled at how money orientated the fight game is and really always has been. It may be so money hungry that it becomes unfriendly to fans, with high ppv prices and smaller venues, but hey, at least we're seeing damn good fights lately.

I really do wonder if this fight will get as much attention has Mayweather-Hatton...It has potential to.
