Miranda, Pascal foes named!
On January 11th, with the New Year less than two weeks old, super middleweight stars Edison Miranda (29-2, 25 KOs) and Jean Pascal (20-0, 14 KOs) will attempt to move closer to their long awaited showdown – but only if they can survive the hard-nosed battlers they will face at boxing's "Crossroads." Miranda squares off against The Contender's David Banks (15-3-1, 2 KOs) and Pascal faces Omar Pittman (15-3-1, 8 KOs) in ten round bouts which headline a night of world-class professional boxing presented by Seminole Warriors Boxing and Groupe Yvon Michel in Hard Rock Live at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida. For Miranda and Pascal, wins on January 11th could mean a highly-anticipated showdown later in 2008. ESPN2's Friday Night Fights will televise the card live beginning at 9pm ET / 6pm PT.

I think Banks might actually look good, or at least not get starched, in the first couple of rounds. He looked pretty slick against Manfredo before he started to gas out; but later in that fight he got hit with a ton of right hands and Miranda's not going to need to land too many I don't think.

I think Banks may pull of the upset because he is a counter-puncher and Mirande will oblige him by initiating the action. Banks is gonna hit him with the straight right counter, which he is very fast with. This is gonna be better than most expect, unless Banks gets caught which could happen at any moment with Miranda. Unless Miranda has developed alot since the Pavlik fight he could get outpointed.

I think if Banks has managed to solve his stamina issues this could be a possibility, but I don't think it's likely. Banks gassed out against Manfredo, and Miranda is a few levels above Manfredo, and he's going to put all kinds of pressure on Banks. Also, Banks doesn't have the power in his shots to keep Miranda off of him.
I think after the 3rd-4th rounds this one is going to get really, really ugly for Banks.

Banks may have gone the distance with powder puff punching Peter Manfredo but against Edison Miranda he is going to get mugged. This one has brutal Ko written allover it.
