Does Manny Pacquiao Get Enough Credit For Dominating Marco Antonio Barrera ??
I don't think he does MAB was on a nice winning streak at the time beating the likes of Naseem Hamed, Erik Morales, Johnny Tapia, Kevin Kelley. People may say MAB wern't interested ETC, but thats not Pacquiao's fault he still deserves more credit for dominating Barrera IMO.

It all depends on who you are talking to. Some may completely agree on what you just said and some say that Barrera's best years were behind him. It was one hell of a performance and no one can take that away from Pac.

A hell of a performance. However the widely known chaos in MAB's training camp and the toll of the winning streak you mentioned in your post has many wondering whether MAB was all there that night. And now that Pac is in MAB's situation he is not offering the same opportunity to up and coming opponents like Solis, Valero, and Guzman. The JMM rematch is a good start though ...... and a fight with one of the 3 mentioned above in 08 will silence his critics.

Embaressingly, I still havn't seen that fight..just the TKO. He's gotta get credit from me just purely for beating up such a legend. An opponent can never be blamed for what condition the fighter enters the ring in..thats his choice.

CC for bringing this up because I've been giving this a lot of thought. In the second fight, he dominated him easily and Barrera had just fought a very hard fought close fight with Marquez.
If that was any indication, Marquez is in for a long night.
Re: Does Manny Pacquiao Get Enough Credit For Dominating Marco Antonio Barrera ??
I think those who look into excuses far too much on why pac beat him the first time around are the only once not giving pac credit for winning that fight the way he did.

Jmm is in for a bad night, ofcourse jmm supporters will oppose that though. Mab could of won that fight with jmm if the kd was rule correctly. Again in a jmm fight a knockdown is not scored correctly saving jmm a lost. Just like in the first fight with pac, if the judge scored it correctly. Pac won via s.d.
Jmms luck will run out cause pac is going to put an end to it come March. ;D

Like I said in another thread nobody ever beats anybody these days, it's alway's an excuse. He was to old, green, shot, not focused, over rated, etc. But people never scream those things before the fight, it's simply not fair

C'mon Brazillizian bomber [you haven't been bothering me lately ;D ;)], don't be too hard on Marco. I'd say he definitely had a bad night, though I'm not sure if it would have mattered even if he didn't.

How are rampant fires that disrupted his training camp and disclosure of a metal plate in his head to the press just before the fight MAB's fault ?

Probably because Pac exerted little hurt on MAB in their 2nd fight. Granted MAB was in survival mode the entire fight.

The 2 have completely different styles and Pac is easier to counter than MAB. In Addition MAB had to fear Pac based on their previous fight and Pac's reputation. Pac is also faster so how can you base the outcome on a completely different fight plan that JMM will have to employ?

Bottom line is this, Marquez still looks like a great fighter but Pac has improved plenty since their first meeting and I just don't see Marquez winning. Of course that's just my opinion.
Re: Does Manny Pacquiao Get Enough Credit For Dominating Marco Antonio Barrera ?
1st fight he didn't have the greatest of training because of the brain surgery
\but he went in and did work and he became a god in his country so he got credit
2nd fight it was so hard to watch both fighters look like shit

Its funny that you consider Pacquaio being easier to counter when MAB had an easier time countering Marquez who was considered the best of these guys in terms of boxing skill than he was able to against PAcquaio. Pacquaio has developed excellent timing, excution, and he doesn't get hit like he used to except when he gets too wild. People who say Pacquaio looked bad, don't know what they are talking about, or should rewatch the fight. He fought one of his best fights in overall, and by far his best defensive performance. Because MAB stayed focused it would have been stupid for Pacquaio to go gunslinging because he got countered more in those few instances than he did in the rest of the fight, and Barrera knew that he had to box to stand a chance because Pacquaio is too fast, too good, and hits too hard for Barrera to handle him.
