It was close with everyone but Pavlik
Re: The WBC asks for your opinion
I went with Linares, i think to call the middleweight champ an 'emerging star' is a bit strange, i would call him an established star. But he had a great year so i can see your reasoning.

Yeah but Kelly wasn't an established star at the beginning of 2007....In truth it was not until he beat Taylor that he became a true star and joined the elite level.....But remember this...while he has had 2 great wins in 2007...was can not consider him bonafied until he at least makes one title defense

Re: The WBC asks for your opinion
Always thought a poll for a next opponent would be a good idea on deciding Alphabet mandatories.

Problem with that is popularity would win out over achievment....Lets say Hatton for example did not hold a title....at 140 he would get a title shot every vote until he either won or retired...guys we don't like even if 100-0 would never get a shot
Re: The WBC asks for your opinion
Although I see your point, don't you think that the boxing public would make the right choice and pick worthy opponents and it would eliminate dissatisfaction on opposition.

No matter what the public will not be happy....and what is stopping guys from having their team just voting voting voting? building up their guys chances? I understand your point but there are too many ways to manipulate things

It's a flawed theory no doubt, but it's an idea. I feel that to move in to the next era boxing needs some new ideas to progress.

What they need to do and I have always said this is to make sure that
1. only fighters in the top 10 receive title shots...the hell with the gimmes...too many guys out there worked to hard to be ranked just to have a guy ranked 25th get a shot while they stay in the top 10 and sometimes never getting a shot
2. Develope a points system for wins..(though this is somewhat in place)....

I guess i should have clarified that i thought that the public should have their say on opposition but only on opponents within the top ten.
As for the points system ???
