Re: Countdown to Jones-Trinidad!
To gain any credit or be considered still a threat he is right he must KO Trinidada...This is not taking anything from Trinidada but lets put it into perspective a second....This is a guy who has fought at 175 for about a decade or so and even went to HW...against a guy who has never fought above MW and is coming in off a 2yr layoff
Re: Countdown to Jones-Trinidad!
Im just curious who will be stronger at 170. Roy should be but he hasnt stopped anyone in over 5 years at Light heavyweight, so you have to wonder will he be even weaker and more weight drained. And Tito is coming up to a weight he has never fought at after a long layoff. Too many variables in this fight, but I say early on Tito will have some advantages but Roy will prevail.
Re: Countdown to Jones-Trinidad!
Boomboom is spot on, too many variables.
Jones age at 39
Tito's inactivity
Jones Chin
Tito's Power or lack of at 170lb
Jones fighting under 175 for the first time in 10 years
Tito fighting over 160 for the first time ever.
Who is coming in more motivated?
Among other questions.
Re: Countdown to Jones-Trinidad!
Ye this fight is quite intriguing for all of these reasons no oone really knows which incarnation of these two once great fighters will step into the ring and how much either of them have left, dunno bout you guys but i cant wait!!!

Perfectly put, Daxx.
This would be an okay freebee.
Re: Countdown to Jones-Trinidad!
Yeh i'm excited about this fight.
Does anybody know who's on the undercard?
Am sure it's already been posted but i must av missed it.
Re: Countdown to Jones-Trinidad!
It's ok, no need i've found it.
Re: Countdown to Jones-Trinidad!
Should be a good show. I'll definately watch.
Interesting fight as so many intangibles.
Old age the main one but Trinidad has never produced the goods this heavy though Jones is having to lose weight to get to 170lbs.
The fight won't enhance or take away from either fighters lasting legacy.
Re: Countdown to Jones-Trinidad!
People here in P.R. routinely ask me: "¿A quien tu vas?"
Which roughly translates into: "Who are you rooting for?"
So my answer is always the same: Tito
However, a peculiarity here is that the question is sometimes meant as: "Who do you think is going to win?"
The point: My heart is with Tito. I'll be rooting for him from the opening bell. But why in the world did Tito take this match for a comeback? He batted .500 at 160 (beat Joppy, Cherifi... lost to Hopkins, Winky). Now he's fighting at 170. Jones once fought at heavyweight.... and WON (even if it was against Ruiz). Jones is blindingly fast, and can be a little unorthodox at times. Even if Tito tags him... there's no guarantee Jones is going down. Tito's coming off a long layoff... no tuneup matches.
So who do I think is going to win?
Tito.
;D
(I'm incorrigible).

Totally agree.
They have done a BUNCH of shows for this fight already! I've seen 2/3 and here's ANOTHER one! Dam"! Plus, they are using the whole,% of the fight going to charity which is nice and all but how much??
Re: Countdown to Jones-Trinidad!
I think the entire world is awaiting this fight more for the fact that they feel they are going to see hwta Jones has left rather than any valiant effort from Trinidad.
Subsequently, I feel most of the audience is lusting for a Jones KO which I feel is unfortunate but also unnecessary. I would be just as contented to see Jones box effectively on the back foot (a trait which was missing in Jones vs. Johnson/Tarver) and see how much boxing ability he has developed, how much of his natural ability remains and how much is in the tank.
By no means am I saying he should think little of Tito or be complacent, but I feel it would be an ideal fight to gauge his ability and tehn make a decision on his future.

My man... Yo tambien voy a Tito.
Re: Countdown to Jones-Trinidad!
I have officially declared this Felix Trinidad week, he is going to rip RJJ a new one, I hate the fact that he took this meaningless fight but I am excited about seeing one of my favorite boxers fight again
Re: Countdown to Jones-Trinidad!
Like I have said before, everyone knows that Titto has two ways to end this fight. Looking at the mat or the lights. ;D
Sorry Titto fan ,I have always liked Titto too but Im a big RJJ fan. I know there are just a few of us here. Roy Jones is why I started to really follow boxing. I couldnt believe a human could do the things he did in the ring.
