Skelton didn't show up at press conference...but he did for public workout...

Today's press conference in Dusseldorf, was a "one-man show" by WBA heavyweight champion Ruslan Chagaev after his opponent Matt Skelton was a no-show. Skelton decided to remain a few extra days in his hometown of Bedford, England, and will arrive Wednesday. The unbeaten Chagaev (23-0-1, 17 KOs) will make the first defense of his world title on Saturday at the popular Burg-Wächter Castello fight venue.

no,his last fight woz against Michael Sprott in England so there woznt any issue of acclimatising etc,this is a bit different but then Germany is only an hour or so behind England so i dnt think it matters much

No press conference required for Skelton. He just needs to concentrate on landing that one punch....because he aint getting a decision in germany....not with his style.

I'd love it if he won. He's a great guy and a credit to the sport seen as though he didn't turn pro until he was 34.

There are certain promoters who make life difficult for their fighters opponents while they are in town, like where they stay, their travel food, whatever they can to unsettle the opponent

Thats not true...in Germany we deal the following with foreign boxers... :
At the fight a sniper sits in the audience and if the foreign boxer gets too far ahead on the score cards,
the sniper shoots a tranquilizer dart in the neck of the target boxer during the in between rnd,when
nobody looks... ::**

If its actually true what you say then the same goes for th US or UK...I don't even deny
that there have been bad decisions in Germany,but I still say not more than anywhere else...

..the fight is the only thing he needs to make sure he shows up for.

Hes leaving tommorow for germany, thats why he missed it ...

Yeah...but in Ottkes case it worked differently: His opponents weren't drugged,but I fell asleep
before his fights ended... ;)

listen pal there has been countless robberies in Germany.. Ottke was a complete joke
