Just got myself, in the mail today, a new Fender Telecaster.. Been wanting one for a while now, and finally got the cash to throw at it.. I've never really played it outside of Guitar Center, but I already love the thing, such a great sound..
I also have an Epiphone Les Paul Black Beauty, and I can't say enough about it.. Obviously it's versatile as anything, so I didn't mind getting something like the Tele that is really a unique sound and less versatile.. Anyone have a Tele or play?
Yeah, I've played for a while now. My mom (may she R.I.P.) got me a G&L SC-3 for Christmas two years ago, it is awsome, I'll try to put a pic up.Quote:

yeah the sc3's are cool.. I love the look of the Jazzmaster and the Jaguars, but I don't really dig the Jag sound.. Gibson SG is probably one of the best sounding guitars i've ever played.. If i had the money and gigged a lot i'd def get one..Quote:

Gotten a couple new ones over the past fews, all of which have been acoustic-electric hybrids. Nothing fancy, my latest was an ibanez which was around $350 (i am on a budget), but I love it..totally rejuvenated my love for guitar playing.

friend of mine has a strat and it does sound really good.. i just love the twang that both the strat and tele have.. I wanna get some fat new strings for it.. Cortez, did you ever switch the pickups on the strat? I know EMG's sound great on them, but i haven't heard much else.Quote:

I have a Telecaster. Had it for about........... geez 15 years i think. Nice guitars. Have always looked after it but tried mucking about with the electrics so it's not making any sound at the moment and I haven't bothered to get it fixed because my amps have been "borrowed" for the last 10 years........i'll never see them again.

Yeah, to be honest the Gibson SG is my favorite all around guitar.. There isn't anything really that i don't like about it.. looks cool, it's light, plays real easily, versatile, and hell of a sound.. If I was playing shows i'd probably prefer it over a les paul.. But as far as a novelty item and playing as a hobby i'd prefer a les paul.. Either way, Gibson puts out a good product, but Epiphone is easily a poor man's Gibson.. mine sounds fantastic.Quote:

If you want to hear a telecaster played far out, listen to Roy Buchanan. Also Will Ray, john jorgenson, and jerry donahue (all of the hellecasters) play them well.
Albert Collins (I think that was his name, the ice man) always played a bad ass tele with a capo on.
