Enzo Maccarinelli was unlucky actually!
I mean it all ended so quickly but if you watch the 2nd round closely, Enzo narrowly misses, on two occasions, the second part of a vicious looking left-hook double-up. If the head shots had of landed, Haye might of found himself on the floor.
Haye was sensational last night though and i'm proud for my fellow Londoner.
I have high hopes for him at Heavyweight.

Kevin Mitchell suprised me too. That was some second wind!!

Jim you could say that about every single fight that has ever happened, *IF* the punch wouldn't of missed. But thats beauty of boxing you hit and don't get hit ;)

Absolutely.

Ouch.

Not really surprising IMO i didn't think it would go more than 4 rounds, i thought Enzo's only chance was to get Haye into later rounds because of Haye's suspect stamina. I know it won't happen but i would love to see Haye take on O'Neil Bell before he moves up.
Re: Enzo Maccarinelli was unlucky actually!
i thought it would be a short fight whichever way it went. yes enzo unloaded a couple of big shots in the second but you cant say he was unlucky. haye landed the clean shots and took him out simple as that.

I just watch it on youtubve. No, Haye wasn't lucky at all. Ducking and slipping hooks isn't luck. Enzo got completely owned. Haye should be able to make some noise with the big boys.
Re: Enzo Maccarinelli was unlucky actually!
If Haye was to stay at cruiser I'd like him to get Cunningham over to the UK and unify the 4 belts and then face Wlad Klitchsko which Wlad IMO could not handle Haye's power as remmeber Haye is a NATURAL heavyweight and he said so last night in the post fight presser and so he would be hitting harder at heavy.
Re: Enzo Maccarinelli was unlucky actually!
Sorry Jim my friend, poor wording bro. Enzo was TOTALLY outclassed,if this fight was unlucky then so was virtually every other ko in boxing!I have total respect for Haye,I've criticised him alot before but he seems like the real deal. Still want to se if he has the stamina to go with the tremendous power!
Re: Enzo Maccarinelli was unlucky actually!
Rozzy... I'm not saying Haye was lucky to avoid the shots, im just saying Maccarineli was unlucky not to land them. He had the right idea.
I'm saying this mainly because one of the 1st things Enzo said was '' i know what i did wrong''. Not much time for doing things wrong IMO.

Enzo can know what he did wrong after the fact and it's doesn't mean a thing. When my coach slaps me with a pad in the head for throwing a lazy jab, I know exactly what I did wrong after he slaps me. I wasn't unlucky for getting slapped. Enzo wasn't unlucky not to land them. Haye was more skillful to make him miss. He might have had the right idea, but having the right idea and being able to execute are two different things. Enzo was lucky the ref made a good stoppage before he got really hurt.
Re: Enzo Maccarinelli was unlucky actually!
Look, I can sse what everyone is saying about Haye out classing Macaroni, or whatever his name is. But if you think about it, he was a bit unlucky. Rewind back to the fight between Marquez and Vazquez last week. Marquez falls back against the ropes in the 12th, the referee steps in, and calls it a knockdown. Fast forward to last night. Macaroni falls into the ropes, the referee doesn't step in and Haye pounds him. What is the correct call on things like that?

What Enzo should have done - the game plan to defeat Haye - was to be extremely careful and keep those guards up all the way in the early rounds, and _then_ go after Haye in the mid to late rounds.
Almost hitting Haye doesnt get any him any probs, and letting Haye hit him was clearly 'doing things wrong'.

Dude,I need to rep you for constant excellent points. I have to spread some around but I totally agree with you here (and in 99% of other threads)Good posting my man.
Re: Enzo Maccarinelli was unlucky actually!
Haye was sharper, faster, smarter, he was everything in that fight, he used good defense moreso than ENzo barely missing... I mean he landed a few hard rights on Enzo. What I don't get is why didn't the ref call it a knock down when ENzo first get hit into the corner it looked like he was already on his way down, but the ropes kept him up... I think that allowed David to hit him with 5 or 6 more solid shots that really ended the fight.

In all fairness to Enzo the ref should have been in there sooner..the first time Enzo fell onto the ropes and gave him a count...Enzo was really hurt by that last punch more then anything...the flurry in the corner Haye missed eveyone of those shots...SHO had a replay from the corner and Haye did not land one flush shot there...it was that last one when Enzo was up that did it...ref should have been in the corner and gave the count when he was supposed to....Enzo actually ate some bigger shots earlier in the round and stood firm...it is the shot you dont see that gets you...if the ref was there when he should have been that shot would not have happened....at least not at that moment
Haye did not impress me last night.....neither did Enzo but point is that was not a great performance...Haye did a better job in the Mormeck fight....Haye was staggered by a fricking jab in the first round...and he is supposed to go up and bang with Peter, Klitschko and the lot of Big HWTS....I don't see it....
