Quintana/Williams & Forrest/Mora together on June 7th?
This little tidbit was in Dan Rafael's Notebook today.
• Vernon Forrest's junior middleweight title defense against "Contender" Season 1 winner Sergio Mora is moving from May 10 to June 7. Showtime will pair it with the rematch between welterweight titlist Carlos Quintana and Paul Williams, multiple sources involved in the event told ESPN.com. Quintana dominated Williams to win the decision in a major upset Feb. 9. Williams had a rematch clause and exercised it.

Steve Kim of Maxboxing also had a small blurb reporting this in his article today as well.
JUNE 7TH
I've been told that Showtime could be airing a doubleheader featuring the rematch between WBO welterweight champion Carlos Quintana and Paul Williams and a jr. middleweight contest between Vernon Forrest and Sergio Mora on June 7th.
The Nokia Theatre (which is across the street from the Staples Center in Los Angeles) and venues in Nevada are being discussed for that promotion.

The quintana/williams rematch is intriguing.. gonna be interesting to see paul fighting with some fire up his ass.
Re: Quintana/Williams & Forrest/Mora together on June 7th?
Great fightcard, I think Williams will struggle to do any better against Quintana.
I fancy Mora to cause an upset though over Forrest. At the very least it will be a competitive fight imo, he certainly won't get blown out.
Re: Quintana/Williams & Forrest/Mora together on June 7th?
Forrest will destroy Mora. And Quintana will again beat Williams
Re: Quintana/Williams & Forrest/Mora together on June 7th?
Mora is going to get stopped, I can't see it any other way.
Re: Quintana/Williams & Forrest/Mora together on June 7th?
Isnt this the same date as Pavlik-Lockett?
(Assuming that's a done deal).
Re: Quintana/Williams & Forrest/Mora together on June 7th?
Forrest will defeat Mora.
I'm interested to see how the Quintana/ Williams rematch plays out.
Re: Quintana/Williams & Forrest/Mora together on June 7th?
Woow is rare , because yestarday in a local journal i readed that these rematch between Quintana vs Williams agreed that they will fight in May 24 /08 , but now in other news the Quintana trainer Jose Bonilla said that these fight now was discarded it because they not even get to a financial agreement and to have signed contract because now is Quintana that are in sit on the desk fot waiting a good financial agreement , if im not mistake in May / 24 Pantera going fight with Kessler , that is another issue , he traine both Quintana and Pantera , Jose Bonilla said that he dont going to choose with who going to be in a fight , supposedly the rematch going to be in P.R.,Jose Bonilla doesnt think that both fight comes, just until they sign the the contract........ Lest see what going Happen .......
Re: Quintana/Williams & Forrest/Mora together on June 7th?
Gotta love Williams wanting an immediate rematch against Quintana for the title....Just like he gave Margarito a chance to recapture it:rolleyes:

You should. I'm picking Sergio via decision.

Care to explain why? I actually don't mind Mora, I wouldn't mind in the least if he pulled off the upset and finally gained some credibility, but Forrest is too skilled for him - if that shark attack guy dropped Mora I think Forrest will stop him. Did you see Mora's last fight where he got a gift draw vs. Ayala? Unless he improves dramatically, Forrest is going to KO him.

Yea, I'd love to here a technical breakdown of why anyone would pick Mora to win. This is just one of those fights where people like to pick the underdog for no good reason imo. Could be wrong as I'm not some master of technical evaluation myself, but I just don't see what the hell Mora is going to do to win considering how both have looked recently.

I'd love to see a technical breakdown that gave Mora any advantage, let alone enough of them to win. Like I said, I like Mora, but he's fighting a top-tier fighter, one who has been consistantly fighting good opponents for many years. Also, Forrest, from what I've read, is finally healthy. I doubt Mora will be more competitive than Baldomir was against Forrest. The only way he doesn't get stopped is if he runs all night. Come to think of it, Baldomir probably would have been a more reasonable step up for Mora.

Quintana is going to win again.
I agree that Williams did not want to give Tony a rematch and he should have. After the Q is done with Williams, no one will even give PW the time of day. If Tony beats Cintron, I doubt even Tony will look Williams way and I am sure because he did not give him a rematch, he will just tell PW to go F himself.
