Kessler withdraws from Miranda fight
The only excuse they gave was there may be a world title fight coming up. Apparently the fight was only going to be a ten rounder too. Be interesting to see what's behind this.

Re: Kessler withdraws from Miranda fight
Shitty, I was really starting to look forward to that fight. I can't believe that Kessler is actually scared of Miranda though.
Re: Kessler withdraws from Miranda fight
I was looking forward to it as well. Whats going on with Kessler? He should have had a fight lined up by now and a fight against Miranda is as good as any other. Strange goings on!! :-\
Re: Kessler withdraws from Miranda fight
You would think this to be the absolute perfect fight for Kessler. He definitely should have no shortage of confidence after a valliant showing against Calzaghe. This is a fight he had a very high chance of winning and over a name that would immediately propel him to the forefront of the division again.
The fight made to much sense, strange as to why it's not happening. Not that I really care, I think Kessler would have wiped Miranda off the map but that's not the point, the Kessler camp has been acting fishy lately. I wonder what, if anything, is up.

I agree! Miranda was the perfect opponent for Kessler to step back in the ring with & get back in the mix!
I wanna know who they're looking at fighting instead! Unless it's someone like Jones Jr or Taylor then I can see no reason for Kessler not to have taken the Miranda fight!
Re: Kessler withdraws from Miranda fight
It does seem a strange decision by Kessler if he had beaten Miranda he would have kept himself right in the mix but now should Froch beat Inkin his name will be the one going forward & Kessler will be left behind.there is some talk that he maybe fighting Mundine again just to get a title having beaten him already it looks a soft option
Re: Kessler withdraws from Miranda fight
Who knows, I'll reserve judgement until his next fight is announced.
Re: Kessler withdraws from Miranda fight
Wether he's got another fight lined up or not, it's still a shitty way to do business. Would have been an entertaining fight.
Re: Kessler withdraws from Miranda fight
Rumours - and they are rumours - are circulating about a 175 world title fight against Hugo Garay. That would be for Danny Green's title (Garay is mandatory, and was supposed to meet Green in April).
I don't know whether this is purely speculation, but it might make sense. Otherwise I am very annoyed at this - I'd love to see Kessler in with Miranda, and I do think he would have beaten him.

Well if he's been offered a title fight then logically that means Bute or Mundine.
Both have only just fought though and Mundine is supposed to be fighting Sam Soliman for the third time in a complete waste of time fight.
My money is that Kessler is going to fight Bute in June :detective:
Or, could it be possible that he's been offered a shot at Danny Green's vacant 175 lb title? Can't see why Kessler would want to move up, but you never know..........:detective:
Re: Kessler withdraws from Miranda fight
A long shot...A very long shot, but would Pavlik be a possibility?
Re: Kessler withdraws from Miranda fight
If Kessler is fighting for a title, then surely its understandable for him not to go through with a risky tough fight with very little benefit in it for him if he wins?
If he gets a shot at the WBA light-heavy titles, or any of the SMW titles still grasped by Calzaghe, then for me its all good. Kinda feel sorry for Miranda, but he's a big boy and I'm sure he'll get over it.
Re: Kessler withdraws from Miranda fight
I'm crossing my fingers for Kess v Mundine
Re: Kessler withdraws from Miranda fight
Who inherits the Welsh One's Titles or are will they be deemed vacant?

Froch could be made the full WBC champion of he beats inkin and is given the interim belt, not certain weather mundine will get the WBa "super" belt, i think that will go vacant as will the WBO
I don't think Calzaghe has to vacate any yet though as he might go back down to SMW and defend his belts after hopkins. Nothing is certain
