Witter says he'd fight Hatton for Free
Boxing News : Witter: "Forget Money, I'll Kick Hatton's Ass"
Wow...Hatton is looking worse and worse. There was no reason for it not to happen before but he just took away his last excuse.
C'mon now hatton fans, even you ghave to admit this a bunch of bullshit. He's going from one of the most courageous fighters to one the most cowardly.
Like I said before, the reason Hatton doesn't want this fight is because it's one thing to lose to a highly regarded guy from another part of the world but to lose to a guy that you've been trying to downplay for years and and he's from your own country, it's a whole different ballgame.
He doesn't want to be called the second best junior ww from England.
Losing to Witter, after all he said, would devastate hattons career to the point of no return IMO.
Re: Witter says he'd fight Hatton for Free
It will happen in 2009 like when Mayweather will face Cotto.
Hatton v Witter - WBC Light-Welterweight Title
Mayweather v Cotto - WBC Welterweight Title
Those two fights are fuckin enormous :o ;D
Re: Witter says he'd fight Hatton for Free
After reading the article and not just looking at the title. Witter is really just using Hatton's name to be popular, what he has done all of his career. Witter has no fans hence why he fights at the Doncaster Dome yet Hatton has sold 47,000 tickets so far for a bout with Juan Lazcano, what does that say ??
Re: Witter says he'd fight Hatton for Free
No on can blame Junior for having a go...fair play to him...but with Hatton tied up for at least 12 months and then a possible (and likely) Mayweather re-match, Junior knows it's not gonna happen anytime soon (and he's hiding behind it).
Good publicity though

Exactly mate, the biggest win on his record is Vivian Harris, even that says it all.
Re: Witter says he'd fight Hatton for Free
I agree with the sentiment that Ricky has no excuses for not fighting Witter...well, at least nothing I'd be happy with if the shoe was on the other foot...
But it's funny how the furore over Laczano has been put into context now it's apparent that Laczano and Malinaggi are appetizer to a rematch with PBF.
Lets say that he fights PBF summer time next year (if it's a stadium job, which is what's being mooted) then they'll leave it later so as to get a better chance of good weather.
So, the earliest Ricky could fight Witter would be the back end of next year. The only way I can see it being sooner is if Ricky lost to either Laczano or Malinaggi, as then the Witter fight becomes a genuine 'Plan B'
No disrespect to Witter there he simply will ahve to wait till ERick gets round to him. That's politics...and that's Boxing.

That fight won't happen.

Yeah I know. But I don't see it happening. I think De La Hoya massacring Hatton has a better chance of happening

It has been mooted but the size differential is just too big. Ricky bulks up...but not in the kind of way that would make the fight competitive. It's a cynical fight if they make it. I honestly don't think it'll happen.
Back on topic...lets not forget that Witter wants 'training expenses'. Given his purses won't have been that stellar in the past, he would still get paid via the backdoor and he'd do well enough out of sponsorship...plus, it won't hurt his profile either.
So he's hardly going out on a limb calling out a fighter he knows is on a different path and safe in the knowledge he'll still make career high money.
It's also fact that to date, he has never approached the Hattons formally...and that's come straight from Team Hattons lawyer.
So, it's all paper talk my friends...but like I said, I don't begrudge him for getting some of the limelight....he's still the second best welterweight we've got ;)

Yeah there's an unbiased party.
Re: Witter says he'd fight Hatton for Free
;D
Well, it's in writing, so they could always take him to task on it if they felt it was libellous.
P.S. They haven't ;)
