How Would Miguel Cotto Have Done Against Elite 90's Welterweights ??
Not too good IMO i think majority of them would of beaten him.
Younger Shane Mosley vs Miguel Cotto = Mosley by UD
ODLH vs Miguel Cotto = ODLH by UD
Jose Luis Lopez vs Miguel Cotto = Lopez by TKO
Ike Quartey vs Miguel Cotto = Quartey by UD
Pernell Whitaker vs Miguel Cotto = Whitaker by UD
Felix Trinidad vs Miguel Cotto = Tito by TKO
I know im probably going to get a lot of stick from Cotto fans but really i can't see Cotto beating most of the elite 90's Welterweights.

There is no shame in this. I can't see Mayweather beating prime Mosley, De la Hoya, Whitaker or Trinidad and he is the consensus P4P best. It was a very good era in the welterweight division. IMO second only to the early 80s. It is a shame more fights were not made between these guys.

Yes i totally agree except for Mayweather losing to ODLH, Tito, Mosley, i would say Whitaker vs Mayweather would be a draw to hard to pick a winner from that match up.
Whitaker vs Quartey
Trinidad vs Quartey
Mosley vs Trinidad
ODLH vs Lopez
Trinidad vs Lopez
ODLH vs Quartey Rematch.
ODLH vs Tito Rematch.
So many great match ups we missed out on.

Cmon.....ICB , i don't going stick on you , but i think that you underestimate Cotto too much my friend , look I'm a realist Cottos fan and i know that some of his fight he showed that his chin wasnt good enough , but now is different bro...Cotto before didn't have the good discipline in his training that has now , you mentioned Trinidad , in his beginning he was the same and surpassed that , if you see Cotto now has the skill that can fight outboxing , toe to toe as always like , he getting better his defense and etc......We just have give him his time......
All the guys that mentioned , the skill that Cotto have right now , i think that have to give the benefit of the doubt ICB.......

IT's your opinion no need for no one to give stick lol
I will only say this. People still saying Cotto would loose to this guy and the other and keeps wining. Shane is still a great fighter in fact he is better now than before since he has more experience and still has his physical qualities.

I don't underestimate Cotto at all i have seen almost every single fight of his career, i always defend Cotto but im sorry i can't see him beating a stronger, faster, younger Mosley. I can't see him beating ODLH who used to have good footwork good power and excellent speed. I can't see him beating iron chinned Lopez who has dynamite in both hands that would be a bad style match up for Cotto. I can't see him beating Quartey who also had dynamite in both hands and a piston left jab, i for certain can't see him beating one of the best defensive fighters of all time aka Pernell Whitaker, And for certain again i can't see him beating Felix Trinidad in a toe to toe battle no way.

Watch the Mosley that fought ODLH in there 1st fight then watch the Mosley that fought Cotto there is quite a big difference. Yes Mosley still is a good fighter and yes i give Cotto big props for the win, but there is quite a big difference to the Mosley of 2000 and the Mosley that fought Cotto.
Re: How Would Miguel Cotto Have Done Against Elite 90's Welterweights ??
At this time it's difficult to pick cotto over alot of the fighters mentioned..But that's just because cotto's seems strangly untested to me...Or no not untested..but he hasn't really got that fighter on his record to suggest he could hang with the legends of the division.Give him a few years and i bet you,you would get a completly different response from most people if you asked the same quistion.
Re: How Would Miguel Cotto Have Done Against Elite 90's Welterweights ??
I do notice this.
a lot of boxing fans always pick past generation boxers over the next.

I know that you know what a power punch that Cotto has too , we can forget that , we will summarize all the power and good skill that they would have , but we have to give him a time , he just have 3 fights in WW and now he is the most fear in that Div....;D

I would have to go with Quartey by KO as well.....Cotto has not reached his peak yet...he is still improving....A bit unfair to put him up against ATG's just yet....I would make this judgement again in about 2 years or so

The Mosley that fought Oscar in their first fight would have been a handful for anyone...so blazing fast. I certainly see him beating Cotto...since a slower Mosley fought him to a draw IMO. That isn't to say i am not a fan of Cotto's. He surprised me with how much he improved technically in the Shane fight...but his defense is still porous.
