Bring on Gerry Penalosa vs. Israel Vazquez
http://img119.imageshack.us/img119/7...3b7a073nr7.jpg
Filipino WBO bantamweight defending champion Gerry Penalosa floors Thai challenger Ratanachai Sor Vorapin last April 6 in Manila.
Penalosa said he wanted to fight Daniel Ponce De Leon or Israel Vazquez.
Vazquez mentioned that if there's good money he could fight Penalosa.
With De Leon busy preparing for Juan Manuel Lopez, why not bring on Penalosa-Vazquez fight.
Any thoughts on this match-up?

Re: Bring on Gerry Penalosa vs. Israel Vazquez
Vazquez would be too much for Gerry IMO...The pace Israel would start off at would be the downfall from the start...Gerry does have KO power but not happeneing early and I am not sure he could with stand an onslaught in this point of his career...Though to his credit Gerry has never been stopped so it might be interesting to see this one play out...

Gerry is a master in evading, slipping or blocking punches. If he can do these things on Izzy, he has a chance to score on counters.
Also Izzy is battle worn with his 3 successive grueling fights with Rafa which give more chances for Gerry...
Re: Bring on Gerry Penalosa vs. Israel Vazquez

Hope about a rematch against Jhonny, you know just to prove it wasn't a lucky shot.

I was just coming in here to post this. That's the fight I'd most like to see Penalosa take next, especially considering (according to boxrec) that Gonzalez was leading on two of the three cards. The third judge had it a draw at the point of the stoppage.

Gonzalez was actually owning the smaller Penalosa in that fight. Jhonny was using his size advantage. Freddie Roach though was smart enough to instruct Gerry to just focus on Jhonny's liver. They knew Jhonny was having trouble making the weight. Therefore, he was more vunerable to go down with a good body shot. I must say, it was beautifully executed by Gerry. He ducked Jhonny's right hook, exposing his right turso, and Gerry went with a massive left hook. That's gotta be painful, knowing that Gerry is a natural lefty.

Sure... at bantamweight so that Penalosa can neutralize Jhonny's size advantage... ;) Jhonny could be weight drained at bantam... :D

Re: Bring on Gerry Penalosa vs. Israel Vazquez
From a business point of view Vasquez want's money right now.
After the 3 fights he's been through the last thing he needs is a smaller pay day compared to what he got for any of the 3 fights.
I'm afraid Gerry doesn't bring that.
If you think about it Arce vs. Izzy makes more $en$e. ;)
Arce already headlines his own PPVs.

I think Team Penalosa / GBP can match what Team Arce can offer to Izzy, moneywise... Penalosa is a tougher opponent for Izzy than Arce...

Doesn't matter how much either promoter can offer...it matters what either promoter thinks they can make off of it...

Just like Israel, Gerry is also looking for big money, high profile fight before he retires... Gerry is the current WBO bantamweight champ while Arce has no more belts tho he's still popular among Latinos...
Vazquez-Penalosa is not bad as a main undercard of a major fight...
