Accepting people's opinions -Message to everyone-
I've been noticing as i've been going around the forums, that this crap is really starting to get out of hand and turn this forum into flame warfare that isn't what saddoboxing should be known as.
You got trolls, biased fans making statements out there, and you got people that immediately mark someone with a differing opinion as someone who doesn't know jack about boxing.
So I decided to make this post and hopefully it will be made a sticky.
But we as boxing fans need to realize that it isn't all about us. That our opinion isn't the be all and end all of an argument. And just because a few people agree with what we say doesn't give us the right to shoot down someone else with a differing opinion.
This has never been more evident then with the recent calzaghe hopkins threads I see around here.
You got people making threads against Joe and threads against Hopkins. You got people saying Hopkins was exposed and Joe was exposed.
PEOPLE, it was a fight. and it's over now. Why are we still living in saturday? We have to move on.
Neither fighter's career is tarnished by that performance, let it go. Personally, I felt Hopkins won, but I'm fine with Calzaghe having the victory because they both fought their butts off and deserve to be respected and both fought the fight they wanted to fight at different times of the fight. You saw the brilliance of Hopkins and the adaptation skills of Calzaghe and they both stepped their games up given the circumstances, respect it and move on.
Now with all the threads going around, we have trolls going around saying all this ridiculous stuff and you got threads being made by people which turn into flame wars or seem just like a garner for attention.
Yet if someone challenges them on the spot for their opinion, do we get a good debate on both sides trying to make an argument? No, we get "Just because you picked Hopkins shows you know f*ck all about boxing."
If you are brave and courteous enough to put your own opinion out there, you should also be willing to accept other's on the case as well. They don't have your eyes, your head and in some ways your bias, so they have the right to see a fight how they want to see it as long as they are being honest about it and aren't just saying something with the intention of pissing you off.
If you say an opinion be prepared to deal with someone disagreeing, and when someone disagrees don't respond by flaming and crap like that, at least back up your case and allow them to back up there's, because you lose all legitimacy by stooping to a lower level and it makes it appear like it's all you were there for, and then what could have been a good post, turns into a flame war post and you know what, those are the posts that seem to be viewed the most and thats why it has to come to a stop.
The whole internet sports community, boxing in one side, is seen as just a bunch of biased fools who toot their horn about their fighters and can't take a loss and other's who throw down on another fighter's loss for the chance to say they were "exposed" ultimately taking credit away from the fighter they want to build up for beating him, and it has to stop.
Case in point, if you put your opinion out there, accept the fact that people are gonna disagree. If you're just putting it out there to flame people who disagree with you, then whats the point of putting it there? It doesn't help you, and it doesn't help the community in this site as a whole.
So as a message to all you boxing fans. Learn to accept other people's opinions and hopefully, ultimately we'll clean up this site to the way it used to be.
I'm Majesty, and thats my opinion.

Re: Accepting people's opinions -Message to everyone-
Good post - but surely stupid people's opinions and thoughts count less than those of normal people? ;)
Re: Accepting people's opinions -Message to everyone-
You have no idea what your talking about and obviously know nothing about boxing. I'm right and your wrong, thats all there is to it. ;D Like that?
Re: Accepting people's opinions -Message to everyone-
You're a fool and know nothing, and yo momma smells, and you are all cowards because you don't know history and bombed Canada when they were fighting the French during the Civil War, and you should post more but stop bullshitting and whay are you posting, and I'm a MONSTOR for my weight, homie.
;D
Re: Accepting people's opinions -Message to everyone-
Just like every other aspect in life most people will not admit being wrong nor accept an alternate view point, I see what you are saying, but fanboyism makes the world go round.
P.S. please remove the Killersheep label, I'm begging you ;D
Re: Accepting people's opinions -Message to everyone-
Everyone's opinon should have value here, hell judges, annoucers and others big into boxing see this fight and a ton of other fights differently but we leave the ultimate choice up to the judges and that is really where everything ends, no thread no matter how truthful or valid even with video proof means nothing once the fight is over, all questions and desrepencies are settled there, and the talk after is just that talk, nothing changes, sometimes people take being a fan too far (ex. raider fans...cough, cough) i've seen fans more hurt, mad or dissappointed than the actual fighter or people in the fighters staff themselves. I think all the discussions are great and the different views are what makes this place fun or we could easily join or start posting threads in fighter specific forums. If what majesty says is true i'm glad i missed out on it.
Re: Accepting people's opinions -Message to everyone-
Good thread. I agree that people should be more accepting of other's opinions. Talking about boxing with people who have different opinions than me, I find, is one of the better ways to learn more about the sport. It makes discussion fun.
There is a lot of crap out there, though. People disrespecting fighters is one thing I can't stand. And of course there are people with extremely biased opinions, we see that every day. No one here is free of bias, whether we want to admit it or not, but some people seem to go to the extreme (ie people recently claiming that Hopkins had been EXPOSED).
Re: Accepting people's opinions -Message to everyone-
People should know the difference between opinion and bullshit.
Re: Accepting people's opinions -Message to everyone-
You will see some people try to back up their opinions with articles by "boxing experts"
What makes someone an expert anyway? I followed this sport hard for 35 years now, and I am still just an asshole with an opinion.
There is no such thing as a boxing expert, anywhere! We are all just assholes with opinions. Nobody is completely neutral as everyone has a favored style, fighter, location etc.
That is why there are three judges. They are only assholes with opinions also, but the law of averages hopes that their opinions will mix, balance and be fair.
That is all we can ask for.
Re: Accepting people's opinions -Message to everyone-
All I know is I saw Calzaghe Bowning B-Hop ;D
Sugar Ray Leonard was laughing in the stands and Stallone was protesting.
;D
Re: Accepting people's opinions -Message to everyone-
I agree with what Majesty stated...I said something simular while arguing on a thread not long ago...I can understand trash talk and even looking for stuff to dog a fighter about...that part of the fun of being a fan...I also love stuff like When Danny G makes PBF stuff and trash talks about him being afraid of Cotto etc...Again all part of being a fan and making fun of your favorite fighters biggest rival etc...
But when guys refuse to give credit where credit is due and totally just ignoring an accomplishment or make every excuse in the world not to acknowladge things a guy accomplishes is total bullshit...People do it even in situations where their guy gets beat in a fight that is not even close...Like stated before just for the sake of an arguement....
Last time I remembered we used to trash talk about people who did things like that...In fact we had a name for them
East Side Boxing Members!!!
But it seems some here are starting to become just that...no names mentioned because you know who you are and only the guilty will get bent out of shape that the comments or comparisons were even made...
Rep to Majesty for laying it on the table...good topic good posting:appl:

Re: Accepting people's opinions -Message to everyone-
I didn't read it, passing through I saw X's post and am going to go with that.
Re: Accepting people's opinions -Message to everyone-
Thanks for the love so far guys and all the opinions put in the thread. Really great job :)
Re: Accepting people's opinions -Message to everyone-
Good post, I agree but there has never been a time where EVERYONE got along at Saddo's.
This place has ebbs and flows of ball busting and sometimes it gets out of hand and sometimes people have to get flushed or put on suspension because of it.
We don't want everyone to be so accepting that it gets bland in here.....we have to rile people up every now and then.
The worst times on this forum are right before and right after these fighters fight: Mayweather Jr., Hatton, Calzaghe, Wlad, and it used to be Kessler and Sam Peter
