Miranda: "This Time I'm Knocking Abraham Out"
Miranda: "This Time I'm Knocking Abraham Out"
By Mark Vester
Edison Miranda has revenge on his mind when he meets IBF middleweight champion Arthur Abraham on June 21 at the Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood, Florida. The first fight took place in 2006 in Abraham's backyard of Germany. Miranda broke Abraham's jaw and pressed the fight, but lost five-points along the way for fouls. Abraham won a lopsided twelve-round decision. He also needed reconstructive surgery to repair his jaw.
The rematch takes place at the catch-weight of 166-pounds and televised by Showtime. Miranda has promised a knockout and says there will be no referee or judges that can help him. Miranda doesn't count the Abraham fight as a loss. He feels that he won regardless of the scorecards.
"History will repeat itself, but this time I'm going for a knockout. He won't have a referee to help him. In seven or eight rounds I will end the fight with a knockout. We are working hard and I believe that's what will happen," Miranda told El Nuevo Dia.
Miranda says that he doesn't view the fight as a rematch, but an opportunity for his future. He plans to spar with fighters like Glen Johnson to prepare himself.
"The promoters, the trainers and his team are guilty of everything that happened. It's not a rematch, but represents the future of Edison Miranda. I wanted my name to be among the best in the world and this fight is one more step for my name to be there," Miranda said. "Here, the referees, the judges and the fans know boxing and they know how to recognize good work. In Germany they don't."
Re: Miranda: "This Time I'm Knocking Abraham Out"
IMO if anyones getting stopped its Miranda!
Re: Miranda: "This Time I'm Knocking Abraham Out"
I'm hoping for a Miranda win in this one.
I was very high on Abraham when he beat Kingsley Ikeke for the vacant title, but apart from Miranda he has fought nobody of note since, instead opting to tumble a number of mediocre fighters and increase the hype in Germany, over his "devastating" power.

Yeah I agree with you about Abraham's recent string of sub par opponents but he is still a very goo fighter

Yeah gotta give him huge credit for the courage displayed in that 1st fight.
My question is if Miranda couldn't stop Abraham with a broken jaw last time out whats he gotta do this time

I think Miranda is still an unknown quantity art 168 as we've only seen him against Banks and as such we can't say that he's vastly improved.
One advantage is that he may be more acclimatised to the weight as he has already been to 168, where as Abraham is moving up for the first time.
Before each fight Miranda preaches of his knockout prowess and promises a stoppage. In the fights he does go for them, but will a more mature Abraham be able to use this to his advantage?
I'm not sure but I think when we find out, a lot of questions will be answered on both fighters belhalf's.

Re: Miranda: "This Time I'm Knocking Abraham Out"
I would like to see Miranda fight Froch.Think it would be a good fight while it lasts but Froch lack of defence would lead him to be ko'ed or stopped in my oppinion.
Re: Miranda: "This Time I'm Knocking Abraham Out"
When miranda says he isn't KO'ing someone that will be real news. If you ask miranda to pick a winner in the upcoming cotto/margarito match-up he'd pick miranda by brutal KO in the first. Anyhow i go out on a limb once again and say miranda will destroy abraham. There is a whole lot of anger and agression built up in this guy. He'd probably rather have this fight with abraham more than a title shot these days. This is much different than the looking past pavlik miranda we'll see this time. Someone should call pascal and see if he wants to fight on the undercard.
Re: Miranda: "This Time I'm Knocking Abraham Out"
Will be interesting to see if Abraham has recovered physiologically from the injury, you see other sportsman take a while to get back to their best following a bad injury, Abraham has been very tentative since that fight and fought a string of non punchers. It will be a great fight but I think an on form Abraham beats Miranda any day. Miranda does carry a big punch but Pavlik took the full force and came back for more. At 166lbs may be a different story but if Abraham is up for it and fully recovered there is only one winner.
Re: Miranda: "This Time I'm Knocking Abraham Out"
Thanks for the photos Macho. :D
Reps comin' your way mi pana.

Absolutely this has been stewing with Edison for a while.... It will be a war, Miranda has tasted Pavliks fire and has recovered with no ill effects, so I dont see Abraham coming with anything that will derail Miranda.. Its amazing at the size difference between the Miranda that fought Abraham years ago and the one that fights at 168, looks more like 198
Re: Miranda: "This Time I'm Knocking Abraham Out"
miranda to win by brutal stoppage.
Whoever the hell told edison to fight at 160 deserves shooting!!
At 168/175 the guy is a potential world beater that has the power to knock anyone out!!

Thats what i've been saying from day one everyone keeps saying Miranda will stop Abraham no question, but i totally disagree Abraham's jaw was basically hanging out so if Miranda couldn't stop Abraham when he was in that kind of condition, i can't really see him stopping Abraham this time.
