Re: Bravest Performances In Losing Efforts.
Good list. Off the top of my head...
Billy Collins/Resto - Resto beat him with rigged gloves for 10 rounds and Collins fought they whole way through, given the circumstances thats probably one of the biggest displays of heart I've ever seen.
Ray Mercer/Wlad - Ray kept walking through a ton of heavy artillery from Wlad.
Arturo Gatti/Mayweather - 6 of the most one sided rounds you'll ever see, still wanted to continue.
Richard Hall/Roy Jones - Richard Hall took more brutal, power punches to the head than anyone I've ever seen, never even came close to winning a round and was pissed when they stopped it.
Re: Bravest Performances In Losing Efforts.
Ricky Hatton v Floyd Mayweather.
Kept coming and was in Mayweather's face all night, even with a one sided ref and the point deduction, never gave up. Great heart and courage shown.
Re: Bravest Performances In Losing Efforts.
Most of Wayne McCullough's fights - incredible guts that guy
Buchanan v Duran
Re: Bravest Performances In Losing Efforts.
Dennis Andries - Tommy Hearns
Re: Bravest Performances In Losing Efforts.
benn-mcclellan, poor gerald, still cringe every time i see been land one of those sharp straight rights knowing the actual effect they would eventually take.
bradley stone - poor lad died in the ring and fought like a true warrior!!
Hatton took some crackers during one of his early fights with thaxton - covered from head to toe in blood yet still carried on to nick a points decision.
Re: Bravest Performances In Losing Efforts.
Jeff Lacy vs Joe Calzaghe
Gerald McClellan vs Nigel Benn
Ali vs Wepner
Edison Miranda vs Kelly Pavlik
Luis Colazzo vs Rick Hatton
Paulie Malignaggi vs Miguel Cotto
Re: Bravest Performances In Losing Efforts.
Wayne Rigby - Michael Ayers
Amazing ending to a sick fight.
Re: Bravest Performances In Losing Efforts.
Holyfield/Bowe 1- This put Holyfield on the map to casual boxing fans. This fight cemented what I and other diehards already knew about him .
Re: Bravest Performances In Losing Efforts.
Jose Luis Castillo-Diego Corrales 1
Diego Corrales-Joel Casamayor 1 (Give me one more round)
Re: Bravest Performances In Losing Efforts.
Micky Ward in the second two fights with Gatti. Especially III. Gatti in the first Ward fight.
Augustus against Ward.
Arguello against Pryor.
Wepner against Ali
Frazier in Manila.
Conn against Joe Louis.

Yea Benny Kid Paret that was there 3rd meeting, he took about 30 punches in 6 seconds or something like that. I see the footage once and it was horrific, and whats even more scary is that Griffith isn't a big puncher.

I just watched a cool documentary last week they did on Griffith. That fight was the single worst case of negligent reffing I personally have seen. It was a travesty and that ref should have been brought up on charges of murder:mad:
